Chapter 9 - Her Smile

2304 Words
*Georgina's P.O.V.* --- "How did it go, Gin?" Kendra asked me as I arrived at my locker. They have been waiting for me and I can sense their excitement about the news that I will tell. "Well, I---" I started but Bethany cut me off. She better has something good to say. "Should we hide a body now? The getaway vehicle is ready." She let out enthusiastically and showed her car keys. I swear, this girl will become a good assassin someday. "Shut it, Beth! Let Gina finish first." Rue shushed her and they all focused on me. "Uh, I don't think that it was really her. She didn't have any intentions about telling the GC." I explained and they are trying to think for a conclusion. "I'm pretty sure that it was her that I saw dancing with that guy that I believe was her boyfriend, or was it her ex? But she dressed so differently. But she could dress like that for disguise, right?" Ken let out and she has a point. "Maybe it really was her. It's just that---" I started, and again, they really are having fun in not letting me finish talking. "What did you two talk about back in there?" Ruby asked and I tried to remember our conversation in the restroom. "Well, just uh, some... Something about the... The play. Oh, and the essay writing contest later this afternoon. That's all." I said and tried not to tell them about the other details. That was just so epic. "Okay. You didn't ask her if it was really her? Or was she there, or about telling the GC, and oh, blackmailing you?" Beth asked and I shook my head 'no'. "Why the heck would I do that? I'm being so obvious and defensive in that matter. It will be like I am telling her that I really went to the club, and then, giving her a clue that she could do something bad about it. So, no, I wouldn't ask her that." I reasoned out and they agreed. "Mhmm. Or maybe she is just waiting for a perfect time to spill it out?" Ken suggested and that might be it. "Yeah, maybe. But let's just hope that she won't." I stated and Beth raised her hand. We looked at her and motioned her to talk. "So, the mission is canceled for now?" She asked and the rest of them turned their heads to me. "Yep, but let's still keep an eye on the target. We don't know if when she will strike." I told them and they nodded. "Okay. Maybe next time or tomorrow, I will borrow Dad's taser to get the job easier." Beth let out and we looked at her weirdly. "Beth! We are not harming her." I exclaimed and she just showed a peace sign. I really am not aware of what they can do. But I guess, she is just kidding. "Let's just go to our classrooms. We only have ten minutes before the bell will ring." I uttered, and then, we went in different directions. ——— "She really said that?" I heard Kelsey asked the redhead who is seating beside her as I walked inside our classroom. "Yep, she just turned me down even before I can ask her." I heard her reply since I am about to pass their way to my seat that is three rows behind them. "Aw, poor Natalie. Maybe she---" Kelsey didn't finish talking when Nat nudged her as she saw me approaching near. Now, I wonder if I am the one they are talking about. I looked at them with my bitchy face and she just gave me a small smile. And, I rolled my eyes and just walked straight to my seat. What a backstabbing b***h! I sat on my chair and pulled out my notebook. I will just scribble something about some of the concepts that I will write on the essay contest later while waiting for the teacher. But I still can't think of any reason why did she give me the theme? She has said that so I can prepare, but isn't it being unfair for the other participants? Or maybe because we are in the same class that is why she is giving me a favor? Ooh, or maybe that is not really the exact theme and she is just trying to make me think that it is it. To fool me. That's it. She is just a devious little red Mephistopheles. I really shouldn't trust her about anything. --- The afternoon classes went on until it is now our Literature class. The teacher announced that we are going to have a review today for our exam, and on our Wednesday class, she will give us the whole period to plan and discuss for our play to be presented next Friday. I better be the director, and we better win against the other groups. I'm just so excited about the SFF. I just know that Jayden and Kelsey can write a good story since we were classmates last year, and they have written our winning piece. That was just so great. ——— "Hi, Gin! You are going straight to the Audi for the event?" Ken greeted me as she saw me walking in their direction. "Mhmm. I guess you can go home already." I told them and Beth pouted. "We can wait for you." She uttered and I just pinched her left cheek. "I think I will be stuck in that hell hole for about two hours and by that time, the mosquitoes have already consumed all of your blood. So, you should just go along." I told them and they seemed like thinking of another excuse. "Ooh, I can wait since Paul is still having their practice at the sports arena," Ruby let out and the other girls nodded their heads vigorously. I just know that they want to make sure that I will be fine since I am heading to the red devil's domain where she rules like a damn queen. She is just the Vice President of the Supreme Student Council, the President of our homeroom and the Environment Club, and the Literary Editor for the School Paper Publication. While I, with my lazy ass is a member of no other clubs, and under her glorious wings in the SPP as a content writer. I just don't want to stress myself in other organizations since I want to focus on academics. But damn, being a member of those also have points for the ranking. Well, at least I am joining lots of contests to make up for those points. "Yeah, that's right, Gin. We can wait in the arena. I guess there's a lesser population of bugs in there." Beth said and I gave her a knowing look. "Oh, less population of bugs but more population of boys. Is Leon in there too?" I teased her and her face flushed. "Yep." She replied shortly and I patted her head. Ha! Now, I know the real reason why they will wait for me. Their boys. "Okay, I'll just give you a ring if I'm done with my bullshits in there," I told them and they nodded their heads. And, as I am about to turn and head to the Audi, they called me out. "Gin, umm. Here." Beth said and handed me a small spray bottle. And, I gave her a puzzled look on my face and asked her, "What's this?" "Oh, that's a pepper spray." She replied while grinning like a crocodile. "For what?" I asked and Rue answered me. "For uh, you know. Emergency." "Just use it if you need it. Well, in case we can't back you up immediately." Beth stated and I looked at Ken who is giggling. "Girls, I will be fine. I promise. But thanks, by the way." I let out and thanked them. They really are so crazy sometimes, no, most of the time. "Yeah. Good luck, Gin!" Ken stated and I just waved at them, then finally, I headed to the venue. --- I opened the glassdoor of the Auditorium and we still have fifteen minutes before the event will start. It's better to be early than late. And, there are about eight people that are sitting at the chairs that are distant from each other. Okay, I think this will be a tough fight. Then, I went straight in front as I saw Cassidy is waving at me. Oh, I guess she is part of the organization. "Hi, Gina! You are joining?" She asked me with a wide smile and I nodded my head. "Yep. Do I still need to register?" I answered and asked her. "Yeah. Uh, kindly write your--- Oh, sorry." She started but was cut off by her phone's ringtone. Somebody is calling her. "Leave me with this, Cass. Go ahead and answer your Baby Morgana." The annoying voice of the ginger b***h butted in and laughed as she teased the blonde. "Thanks, Nat! Hey, Babe, what's up?" She said, then, pressed the answer icon. "Ahem. So," Natalie cleared her throat, then, sat on the chair to accommodate me for the registration. I just raised an eyebrow and she looked down at the sheets in front of her. "Uh, it's, umm. I'm glad that you showed up." She started and smiled again while displaying her dimples. Can she just proceed to the papers? "Mhmm. I just don't want you to think that I chicken out. So, what should be done first?" I said sternly and asked her. I really just want to sit down now. "Okay. Yeah, so, here... You write your name and the... Umm, your signature." She stated as she pointed out the specific tables in the paper in front of me. "That's it?" I asked and a smile is slowly creeping on her face. What the f**k is the matter with this girl today? "What else? Is there more?" She asked and this sounds so familiar. I just rolled my eyes at her and I saw that she bit her lower lip. I bent down to write my name and I noticed that she snapped her head in a different direction with a blushing face. Is she sick? I looked back on the paper and almost jumped in surprise that my cleavage is... s**t! Then, I placed my left hand on my chest to cover it and I think my face flushed out of embarrassment. "There." I let out as I finished doing my thing. She looked at me and she seemed like she has recovered. Why would she even feel uneasy if she also has it? Or is she... No, prolly not. I guess she is just being modest. "Great! So, uh, here is... the... Umm, yeah, the criteria as well as the theme for... this... essay writing contest." She stammered as she reached for some paper on her left side and handed me one. I swear, this girl needs medication. Now, I can finally confirm if she is just tricking me with the theme or not. I took it from her and scanned the paper. "Is there something wrong?" She asked me as she noticed my expression. My jaw dropped as I read the theme. "Global Warming?" I asked and she gave me a confused look on her face. "Yeah. Why?" She replied and I just shook my head, then, motioned that I should find a seat. "And, oh, Barbs. Uh. We... Umm... We'll just distribute later the sheets where you will put your... uh, write the essay. You can use the remaining ten minutes to formulate something... For it." She explained and I just nodded my head as a response. Damn, she did tell the truth. But why? There really is something not right with her. I should figure that out. Then, I sat at the very end of the room so that I can focus. --- The ten minutes are over and at the front, the Adviser of the Environment Club is explaining the criteria. "Okay, so, good luck, participants. Now, I will give the floor to Miss Natalie Porter for further information for this event." She said and the redhead took over. "Alright, so, in this event, you need to write at least a two-thousand-word easy in two hours about the theme. You are only allowed to use a black pen and you should write in cursive. So, yeah. And, oh, if you need any clarification, you can just go here in front and approach the team. We will do our best to provide what you need." She explained and paused to look at the watch on her right wrist. "Okay, guys, let's give them the sheets." She added and went to the front table to grab some blank sheets of paper. There are about twenty-five participants and it's open to all grade levels in the academy. I just hope I can win this, but I am so f*****g nervous inside. I am not aware that it could be this many participants. I thought that there will be just ten. Damn, she really gave me hope by giving the theme earlier. Maybe she just wants our section to win. But that's being unfair. No, I just need to win this. "Here is for you." I lifted my head to look at the person before me and she is wearing her very wide smile. Damn, her smile is brighter than my future. "And... good luck. I know you can win this." She added and whispered the last part, then, winked at me. She really is up to something, isn't she? I just stared at her in disbelief and she left when she already placed the blank sheets of paper on my table.
