Mikey checked on the infrared device in her hand as she pointed it down at the ground. But then, the device didn’t show anything. “I cannot see anything,” she said. Zack crouched down and touched the ground. “They must have been in a very deep burrow that the device cannot pick up any heat signature,” he said, standing up. “What should we do? If we barge into the cabin, there could be traps laid there or an alarm that will signal them to flee,” Leo asked. “We can find the other way in. Probably the exit,” Seb told everyone, and they all looked at him. “I believe that aside from the entrance inside the cabin, there is another way, and that is the exit,” he added. Zack nodded his head. “You’re right. Underground shelters like this usually have two openings, the entrance and exit,” he said, and then he looked at Karen and Leo. “Karen, Leo, you two sniffed around and searched for the exit.” He told them. “Check tree stumps, huge rocks, and caves. Those are the usual exits in this kind of thing,” Seb told them. “Got it,” They replied, and then they took off in different directions. “Now what should we do?” Daisy asked. “While they are still looking for the exit, we won't be attacking. I cannot risk that bastard escaping again,” Zack replied, and Daisy nodded. “In that case, we should hide,” Mikey said. Then she started discussing with the others their hiding spot. While they were discussing, Seb was looking around. Then he crouched down and touched the ground. He could feel the moisture in it. He continued feeling the moisture in the ground, as if he were trying to locate something. Zack turned towards Seb to talk to him, but then he was taken aback when he saw the young prince on his knees, on the ground. “What is he doing?” Daisy asked. “Looks like he had a connection with the water on the ground,” Mikey said as she continued to observe Seb. “What for?” Daisy asked, and Mikey shrugged in response. Then all of a sudden, Seb stood up and turned towards them. “I think I have a way to flush them out without alerting them,” Seb told them, and their eyes lit up. “Really?” “Yeah, but we need both entrance and exit guarded before I can do that,” Seb answered. Zack crossed his arms over his chest. “You are right. We cannot afford to lose that bastard.” He mumbled, and then he contacted Leo and Karen. “Guys, how are you with the search?” he asked them. ‘Still looking,’ Karen answered through their communication line. “Leo?” ‘I am following a scent. It's sort of like the victim’s scent, just sort of different,’ Leo replied. “What do you mean by it smells different?” Zack asked. ‘I can't place it,’ Leo answered, and everyone was confused by what he meant. Seb, on the other hand, has his eyebrows furrowed as he tries to analyze everything. “You said the hostage is the recent victim, and she was last seen three days ago,” Seb said, and the others looked at him. “Yeah,” Mikey answered. Seb then walked closer to the cabin. The others did not follow him and just watched him walk. Once he is close enough to the cabin, Seb sniffed the air and looked through the broken window. Seb observed everything that was inside the cabin. Then Seb noticed something on top of the table next to the opened cans of fruit cocktail and banana peels. Seb narrowed his eyes towards the bottles and read what was written on them before he went back to where the others were, at the top of the tree, where they decided to hide and wait. “I have a question,” he started. “Was the missing girl human like the ones who were killed before her?” Seb asked. “According to our intel, she is…” Daisy trailed, and the others looked at her. “What’s wrong?” Mikey asked, and then Daisy looked at them. “She’s adopted,” Daisy answered. “So?” “I bet she was adopted by a nice human couple, but our little missing girl is not human at all,” Seb said, and they all looked at him with surprise in their eyes. “Are you saying she’s a wolf too?” Zack asked. “But we didn’t smell any wolf scent in their home when we conducted our investigation,” Mikey reasoned. “Could be half wolf. They can usually hide their wolf scent and live off as humans until they find their mates,” Seb explained. Zack looked at Seb. “What exactly are you pointing at?” he asked. “I believe that the girl the suspect is with right now is not a victim but an accomplice,” Seb told them, and they all looked surprised and in disbelief. “How is that even possible?” Daisy asked. “She’s pregnant with his child. They are mates,” When Seb said that, the others' eyes widened. “She is half wolf, and it turned out that she is mates with the suspect. I don’t know how they met or when they have been together, but I am certain that she is pregnant because of the prenatal vitamins on the table inside the cabin. Also, all traces of food consumed inside are fruits. It's a usual craving of a pregnant human, only she is half human. So, to nourish her pregnant body and her child, she needs fresh meat. Where do you think she gets that meat?” Seb explained. “I don’t want to think about it. It's gross,” Daisy hissed, and then Zack gave her and deadpan look. “Coming from a vampire?” he asked, and Daisy rolled her eyes and retorted. “Whatever,” Mikey, on the other hand, went through all the files they have regarding the serial killing. Then she saw something that connected the suspected and the assumed victim, predating the current situation. “Our girl Leslie was in Wyoming for a swimming competition at the same time our suspect, Koza, is in Wyoming for his seventh kill,” Mikey said, and then Seb clapped his hands. “That is where they met, mate, and then boom, baby on the way,” Seb blurted. “So, you’re saying that during the eighth to the twelfth kill, they are together?” Zack asked, and then Seb shrugged his shoulders. “Could be, or he just delivers the meat to her without anyone else noticing. How many weeks was it since Wyoming?” Seb responded. “Around eighteen weeks,” Mikey answered, and then Seb pinched his chin while crossing his arms over his chest as he calculated the age of gestation. “Since she is only half wolf, and most of her life lived as a human, her gestational age is half of it’s of a human. A human’s gestational timeframe is up to forty weeks, and now she’s in her eighteenth week. She is about to give birth.” Seb said, and then he looked at the Elites. “This is tricky. The father, our suspect, will be extra feral since he’ll be protective of his mate and child. I suggest keeping the girl and the child out of the case and punishment for the time being, and they would need a separate investigation to know if she is an accomplice or indeed a victim,” he continued. Zack nodded his head. “Okay. Let's do that,” he said, and then he looked at the other Elites. “Team, you heard what Prince Seb said. Our priority is to catch and subdue the rogue. The girl and the child are another story, but still, we need to take them into custody. I will be reporting this to the higher-ups so they can help us regarding them.” Zack told them, and they nodded in understanding and agreement. ‘Hey, guys.’ They heard Leo say from the coms. ‘I think I found it,’
