Jimmy, Franco, and their women left after the meeting, not staying for dinner. Grandma offered, but they turned her down. Not that I expected them to stay. The meeting went longer than any of us expected, and it would be very late before they made it home. If they waited and had dinner, it would be after midnight before they reached their places.
Before they suggested we stay the night, I had been concerned about how late it would be when we got home.
At first, I thought they meant only Jessica.
Why did I think that was not something I could explain?
It had something to do with my past that I was not ready to bring forward and talk about.
A part of me that I had felt was pushed into the back of my mind, but it surfaced briefly.
The meal was delicious, like always, and
