Regina Japheth took delivery of his shiny new blue pickup truck, with a full crew cab, because, as he informed the dealership with a proud smile, “I’m a family man now.” He took care to show me how a car seat would fit in the back seat. He already had an order in to get his farm logo painted on the sides. My car, for some reason, took a few days to repair. Something about ordering the right paint. Who knew there was more than one color of black paint? But when they returned it to me, it looked as good as new. You would never know that a death threat had been inscribed on the doors.
