Chapter 5: Daughter of the Hale family

Dante’s pov
"Come on, you need to eat," I said to Sasha who had her head covered with a blanket. I removed the blanket from her head, and she looked at me.
"What should I do now?" She asked me, and I just sighed not knowing what to say.
"I can’t give you kids, I won’t be able to be a mother." She said, and I started sobbing.
I hugged her as she was crying, and I didn’t know what to say.
The Doctor told us a few days ago that there is an obstruction in her fallopian tubes. This means that she won’t be able to have kids and the obstruction is such that it can’t cleared. Not only that, we can’t even get a surrogate since any procedure or any kind wouldn’t be advised, so that is a no go.
"We can adopt, you and I can still be parents." I said, and she looked at me.
"You think they will let some child be Alpha?" She asked me.
"Listen to me, I don’t care about the Alpha position. You are my mate, and I will stick by you through thick and thin." I said to her, and she looked at me. Her green eyes are full of tears and her face was puffy.
"Promise me, promise me that you will do everything I ask of you." She said, and I nodded.
"I will do anything for you." I said and kissed her forehead.
"And don’t worry about the Alpha position." I said, and she looked at me confused.
"I have two younger brothers. I will start training them and one of them will take over as Alpha." I explained, and she nodded.
"But being Alpha has always been your dream." She said, and I just sighed.
"Well, I am Alpha now. My dream has come true." I said, and she looked at me.
"I am sorry, because of me you will have to give up on your dream." She said.
"If I was in your shoes if I was shooting blanks and couldn’t give you kids. And you had to give up on your dream to be a mother, would you want me to apologise to you?" I asked her and she shook her head.
"No, it’s something that isn’t in your control." She answered, and I smiled.
"This isn’t in your control. Don’t you dare apologise for this. We will get through this together." I added.
She fell asleep and I walked to my office and found my Beta and Gamma waiting for me.
"I have reached a decision, I will train my younger brothers and whoever is willing will be Alpha." I informed them.
"What? What are you even saying?" Piers asked me and I sighed.
"You heard me, it’s either this or my mother and the elders will tell me to leave my mate." I answered.
"Then leave her, you have wanted to be Alpha from a very young age. This is your birth right." Piers said. I looked at him and watched as he looked down in fear.
"I am sorry, Alpha." He said, and I sighed.
"You guys will need to support and guide whoever gets to be Alpha." I informed them.
"I am also not happy with your decision. There has to be another way." Felix said, and I shook my head.
"Not that I can think of, but I am open to suggestions." I said, and he sighed.
"Think about it first, don’t be too quick to turn it down." He said, and I nodded.
"You could get a second wife." Felix said and despite my promise I couldn’t stop myself.
"What did you say?" I asked him and he bowed his head.
"I am sorry Alpha, but it is the only possible solution. You could find another wife who could give you kids." He explained.
"You know very well how I feel about that, and you thought of bringing it up." I said, and he sighed and bowed his head yet again.
"I am sorry," He said.
"My father left my mother, she was utterly broken by all of this." I said and then sat back down. "I am not my father, I will forever be faithful to one woman and that is my mate." I said making sure I was clear.
"Call a meeting with the elders. I will tell them everything tonight." I said, and they both nodded and left the room.
Piers and Felix are my childhood friends. I don’t like being all Alpha on them, but I didn’t like what they were saying.
I made a promise when I became Alpha at 18 that I would never be like my father. I would be a husband and a father who is loyal to my family.
Even if I can’t be a father, I will still be a loyal husband to my mate.
I am not a man who breaks his promises at all, I am not my father.
I will care for only one woman.
"Are you ready?" I asked. Sasha nodded.
"Are you sure that you want to do this? Those people might say really harsh words towards you." I said, and she nodded.
"I know that, but I am your wife and mate. I want to be by your side during this time." She said and placed a gentle kiss on my lips.
"Having you by my side will make things easier." I said and pulled her into a hug.
We went to my office and found the elders waiting for us.
"What is happening here?" My mother asked me, and I sat down, and Sasha sat next to me.
"The doctor told us the results, it turns out that we won’t be able to have a child." I said, and they all frowned.
"What are you saying you won’t be able to have a child? Are you the problem? Is the problem with you?" My uncle asked me.
"Yes," I said and looked at Sasha who frowned.
"No, he isn’t the problem. The problem is with me." She said and then held my hand. "I am the reason we can’t be parents."
"No, you are the reason you can’t be a mother. My nephew can still be a father, all he needs is to cut any connection with you and marry a girl who will give him an heir." My Uncle said.
"That is never going to happen, I am not leaving my mate for anything." I said firmly.
"But son, what should we do? If you can’t have a child then you can’t be Alpha." My Mom said. "You know better than anyone how I feel about a man who leaves their mates. You don’t have to leave her, you can marry another woman who will give you a child." She then looked at Sasha as if apologizing to her for what she just said.
"Yes, but since these witches have brought nothing but a loss to us. We will also cancel the treaty." Mr Jones said.
"I agree, they gave us an infertile girl." Mr Cooper added.
Sasha squeezed my hand trying to calm me down.
"This is my mate you are talking about. I would watch your tongues if I were you." I warned them. "I am not marrying someone else. I will be stepping down as Alpha."
"If you do that, then the treaty between the witches and werewolves will end. I will make sure that I use my contacts to get those witches destroyed for this!" My Uncle said.
"No, you don’t have to do that. According to the treaty, a daughter of the Hale family needs to give your family an heir." Sasha said, and the elders nodded. "I am not the only daughter of the Hale family. What if you married Dante to another daughter of the Hale family and made her his second wife?"
I looked at her confused, what the hell is she talking about?
"We are listening," Mr Cooper said.
"My younger sister Jade, let her be the one to marry Dante and bear his child." She explained.
"What the hell are you saying?" I asked her getting off my seat.
"Will your parents agree?" My Uncle asked her.
"They have already agreed, Dante will marry Jade if you also agree." Sasha said.
So, she went behind my back and planned all of this, why?
