CHAPTER 88 ALEX’S POV The drive home was quiet–something I was already used to. But there was something different about it this time. Something… wrong. My gaze relaxed, the smearing streaks of light crossing my dashboard swarming my vision as the city blurred around me. I tried to focus, tried to keep my attention on the road–hands tight around the steering wheel, knuckles stiff–but I kept slipping in and out of thought. The radio wasn't turned on–thankfully. I couldn't stand the idea of music filling the quiet or anything that might remind me of her at all. My chest ached. Everything reminded me of her – the feminine scent that still lingered in the other seat, the way the headrest was reclined just for her, and the warm air I had forgotten to turn off since she’d asked for it
