Chapter 26 Mara's POV The soft hum of the ceiling fan filled the silence that hung in my living room. The rain had finally calmed outside, and what was left was a soft drizzle tapping against the windowpane like hesitant fingers. Kurt was seated comfortably on the couch, one arm slung lazily over the backrest. His shoes which he had pulled off and placed beside his legs were a bit damp from the little run we'd made through the rain. I sat opposite him, a steaming cup of tea resting untouched in my hands. "You make the best coffee," he complimented, looking up into my eyes. I nodded, sipping from my cup. "You'd have preferred my tea to that." "Guess I couldn't betray coffee, I guess," he replied. "It's just my preference." I nodded, swirling my cup and thinking deep for a bit.
