Mara's POV
Kurt was no match for Alexander, and fortunately, he wasn't foolish enough to doubt this. He looked between us, his chest rising and falling quite fast.
"I'll be back Mara," he finally said with so much authority that he just didn't possess. Then he glared, brushed past Alexander, and stormed out of the room. The door shut behind him with a dull thud.
For a heartbeat, all I could decipher was the rain outside and the thundering of my very pulse.
I turned away from the doctor, crossing my arms casually. "What brings you here, doctor? I thought you had enough in your office–"
