Mara's POV
"I had to leave early, my love. See you later today, intern Mara. And... Yeah I made breakfast for you with what I could find available in the kitchen. Lots of love."
A blush crept up my neck as I read the message twice, maybe three times.
"Hmm, intern Mara?" I muttered under my breath just as a dry laugh escaped my lips. "Surely a nice way to address someone you slept with, Doctor."
I rolled my eyes and shook my head at my words, though a smile tugged at my lips anyway.
Was that his subtle way of asking me to keep things professional at work? I understood the hospital's code of conduct all too well–romantic involvement publicly with a colleague could ruin a lot faster than a heartbeat. He was being cautious, mostly for me. I knew he could never be fired.
