Chapter 30 Alexander's POV For a long moment, I simply stood there, watching Mara's retreating figure as she walked down the hallway. The sway of her steps and the faint trace of her brilliant perfume still lingered in the air. It was all enough to pull a smile out of me, the very kind that came from somewhere deep and unbidden. I lost control of it. She was everything I dreamed of and more. I let out a sigh, those ones that came when your chest felt too full for words. Oh if anyone had told me a few months ago that I'd be the one smiling like a lovestruck fool over a lady, I'd have laughed them out of the room. But here I was–standing in a rarely used hospital hallway, my heart pacing like I'd finished a marathon. "Doctor Alexander?" The voice snapped me out of my short trance.
