Chapter 38 Mara's POV The spell shattered like glass, and reality came flooding back in–the car, the public street, the fact that my shirt was rucked up and his hand was just under it. We were in a dark corner, but that didn't deny our visibility. Alexander let out a shaky breath, then a soft laugh that was more air than sound. Slowly and reluctantly, he withdrew his hand from my shirt, smoothing the fabric down with such tenderness that made my heart clench. He didn't move me from his lap though.
