Chapter 37 Mara's POV The dim glow of the streetlight caught two figures standing by the driveway. One of them was Alexander. And beside him–my mother. This felt unreal, and for a brief moment, my breath caught. It was almost like the tail of the nightmare I had just escaped. But the voices–they were real, clear enough that I could hear them even through the thin evening air. Before I could think again, I pushed away from the window and dashed out of my room.
