CHAPTER 55 MARA’S POV I remained still on my bed, my eyes pinned on the ceiling as Alex's voice, muffled, echoed in a distance. I already had my headphones on now, yet I could still hear his pleading through the music–frustrated, desperate, commanding. No matter how hard I tried to shut it off, or how high I tuned the music, his voice still persisted. I finally resorted to just ignoring it. The calls, the way my heart raced and my chest tightened each time he mentioned my name, the ugly memories that flooded my thought every time his voice reached my ears–i ignored them all.
