After the funerals, I took a job at Mercy Hospital. Kam wasn't entirely pleased with the idea of me working in a public hospital, but he also knew I wasn't going to sit at home and knit.
Luckily, the majority of the staff at Mercy didn't know I was Kameron St. Pierre's fiancee. They hired me right away based on a glowing recommendation from Mary Lou. I took a position in the float pool, which gave me a chance to sample all the different areas of the hospital. The palliative care department liked to pull me as often as they could to work with their comfort-care patients, but I found myself gravitating in the opposite direction, toward the Birthing Center.
