He stood up, but put his palm to her jaw, cupping her face as he stared down at her. It was a surprise to find that he was so easily wounded as well as how separate he thought of himself and Silverback. They weren't that different at all. Why couldn't he see that? Turning her face, she brushed her lips over his rough palm. He brought up his other hand to cup both sides of her face and leaned over to kiss the top of her head. "You're my everything, Allison," he murmured. Before she could say anything, he was taking long, hurried strides toward the door. Allison was still having issues coming to terms with what had just happened, but she shakily got to her feet and went to the window to watch Deucalion walk off through the compound, nodding and smiling to wolves who bowed as he passed.
