POV: Ryan I pulled up to Ethan and Lena’s house just after eight, the familiar two-story place glowing warm under the porch light. Same old truck in the driveway, same flowerpots Lena tended every spring. I’d been here a hundred times—barbecues, football Sundays, helping Ethan fix that damn fence last fall. But tonight felt different. Ethan’s text had been casual: Come over for drinks, man. Need to catch up. Still, something in the wording made my gut twist. I’d always hidden it. The way my eyes lingered on Lena too long. The way her laugh hit me low in the chest. Twelve years of watching my best friend live the life I sometimes dreamed about in the quiet hours. She was off-limits. Married. Ethan’s. End of story. I’d buried those feelings so deep they only came out in late-night fantasies I immediately shoved away. I grabbed the six-pack from the passenger seat and headed up the walk. Ethan opened the door before I could knock, clapping me on the shoulder with that easy grin of his. “Ryan! Good to see you, brother.” He pulled me into a quick hug, smelling like whiskey already. “Lena’s in the living room. Come on in.” The house was quiet—no kids running around, which meant they were probably at her mom’s. Lena was on the couch in soft leggings and an oversized sweater that slipped off one shoulder, her dark hair loose around her face. She looked up and smiled, that same warm smile that always made my pulse kick up. “Hey, Ryan. Beer?” “Yeah, thanks.” I set the pack down and took the cold bottle she handed me. We settled in the living room like always—me in the armchair, them on the couch. Small talk flowed easy at first: work bullshit, the new basketball hoop Ethan put up for the kids, how the neighbor’s dog kept digging up Lena’s garden. But after the second round of drinks, the vibe shifted. Ethan kept glancing at Lena, his hand resting on her thigh a little too possessively. She was fidgeting, cheeks flushed even though she’d only had one glass of wine. “So,” Ethan said, clearing his throat. “We’ve been talking about some stuff lately.” I raised an eyebrow, taking a long pull from my beer. “Yeah? What kind of stuff?” Lena bit her lip, looking between us. Her eyes met mine for a second longer than usual, and heat crawled up my neck. f**k. Not now. I forced a casual smile. Ethan leaned forward, elbows on his knees. “This is gonna sound crazy, but… Lena and I have been thinking about spicing things up. In the bedroom.” I nearly choked on my drink. “Spicing things up? Like… toys or some s**t?” Lena’s voice was soft but steady. “More than that. We’ve been talking about inviting someone else. Into our bed. Just physical. No strings.” The room went dead silent. I stared at them, waiting for the punchline. Ethan’s serious face cracked into a grin, and Lena let out a nervous laugh. This had to be a joke. They were f*****g with me. I barked out a laugh, shaking my head. “You two assholes. Almost had me there. What, is there a hidden camera or something?” But they didn’t laugh along. Ethan’s expression stayed earnest. Lena watched me with those big, hopeful eyes, her fingers twisting in her lap. “Ryan… we’re serious,” Ethan said quietly. “We trust you. You’re family. And we both… we’ve noticed the way you look at her sometimes.” My stomach dropped. All those years of careful control—gone in one sentence. Heat flooded my face. I set the beer down hard, afraid I’d drop it. “You’re shitting me.” My voice came out rough. “This is a joke. Has to be.” Lena shook her head, scooting to the edge of the couch. “It’s not. I love Ethan. We’re solid. But things have gotten… routine. We miss the fire. And when we started talking about who we could trust, your name kept coming up.” I ran a hand through my hair, heart hammering like I’d just run sprints. This couldn’t be real. Lena—my Lena in every secret fantasy—sitting there telling me they wanted me in their bed. My c**k stirred traitorously at the image, even as my brain screamed warnings. “Jesus Christ.” I stood up, pacing a few steps. “You’re my best friend, Ethan. She’s your wife. I can’t… I mean, what the f**k?” Ethan watched me calmly. “We’ve talked about boundaries. Protection. It stops the second anyone feels weird. No jealousy, no drama after. Just one night to see what happens. Or more, if it feels right. But only if you want it too.” Lena’s voice wrapped around me like silk. “We wouldn’t ask if we didn’t trust you completely, Ryan. I’ve always felt… safe with you. Comfortable. But there’s something else there too. I see it when you think I’m not looking.” Her words hit me square in the chest. All those hidden glances, the accidental brushes, the nights I jerked off imagining her moans while hating myself for it. They knew. Or at least suspected. I stopped pacing and faced them. My mind raced through every reason to say no. This could destroy our friendship. Ruin their marriage. Blow up everything good in my life. I’d lose them both. Every instinct—loyalty, self-preservation, guilt—yelled at me to walk out that door right now and never look back. But Lena was looking at me with flushed cheeks and parted lips, like she was imagining it too. Ethan’s eyes held a mix of nerves and excitement I’d never seen on him. The air felt thick, charged with possibility. My body was already on board, blood rushing south at the thought of finally touching her. Tasting her. Watching Ethan f**k her while I… “f**k,” I muttered, rubbing my face. My hands were shaking. I sank back into the chair, staring at the floor. The silence stretched. I could feel them waiting, holding their breath. Lena’s soft voice broke it. “You don’t have to answer now. We just wanted to put it out there. No pressure.” But there was pressure. The kind that made my jeans feel too tight and my chest too small. I looked up slowly, meeting Ethan’s gaze first, then Lena’s. Those deep, beautiful eyes that had haunted me for years. Every instinct told me to refuse. To protect what we had. To walk away before I crossed a line I couldn’t uncross. Instead, the word slipped out, low and rough, sealing my fate. “Yes.”
