Xavier's eyes narrowed, and his fists clenched at his sides. I could feel the anger radiating off of him in waves. He took a step forward, ready to confront Anne and put a stop to her madness.
But I grabbed his arm and held him back. "No, Xavier," I whispered, trying to keep my voice steady.
Xavier hesitated for a moment, his eyes searching mine for reassurance. I could see the fury in his gaze slowly turned into concern for me. He nodded his head, reluctantly stepping back.
