Xavier's family, Aunt Regina and Uncle Michael were the first to greet us. Their expressions were cold and distant, and I could feel their disapproval piercing through me like daggers. I tried to smile and greet them warmly, but my voice came out shaky and unsure.
"Happy Birthday," Uncle Michael wished me.
"Thank you." I smiled at them.
But they only gave me a curt nod and turned their attention towards Xavier. I felt a pang of pain in my heart, but I knew that I couldn't blame them for their reactions.
