XYLA Hela's voice sent a shudder through me. I instinctively backed away from Nora, just so I could be closer to Allister. His posture stiffened, which somehow gave me a sense of security. Her vile golden eyes raked over my face, and then at Allister's, as she slowly walked up to us, her steps predatory. Allister took my am and pulled me behind him, not bothering to keep his movement casual. Almost immediately, I felt the lycan's gaze on me too. "Aw," she smiled, "look at that. Still acting like her shield, brother? Just like the last full moon?" I gulped, uneasiness spreading through me. Somehow, even without looking, I knew that Ashton was listening. His gaze had something that unriled me, and I could tell it was focused on my back right now. He was studying my moves, my reactions.
