(Johnny's Pov)
I ran to David and Gabe and knelt down beside them. "David! Gabe, you guys have to believe me! I didn't do this!" I said. They both searched my eyes for any sign that I was lying but found none.
David sighed and said, "Fine, just help us." I nodded and picked up the colt and I could see his leg was bleeding pretty badly. I ran past Cherry, Andy, and Justin and went to the porch. I gently put him down and he whined. I hushed him and tried to get a look at his leg.
"Johnny, stay here while I take him to the animal hospital. Gabe, you should stay here and try to figure all this out," David said. We nodded and David picked up the colt and put him in his truck. He quickly drove off down the road and Gabe looked at me.
"Johnny, who did this?" he said. I bit my lip and glanced at Cherry. He looked at her and saw her glaring daggers at me. He smiled and put his hand on my shoulder. "I'm sorry for blaming you, now I have to go find Mrs. Reze and talk to her about punishment." I nodded and he got up and went into the house. I got up and looked at the blood on my shirt. I guess I should go change, but before I could Rain came back with the others and when he saw me his eyes widened. He quickly got off of Sully and ran over to me.
"Oh my gosh, Jonny, are you okay!?" he said. Wait, is he worried about me? I nodded and bit my lip.
"Yeah, I'm okay, but he isn't," I said.
Rain looked at me worried and confused before saying, "What happened?" Joe was behind him now with worry written on her face, too.
"Cherry scared the black and white colt," I said.
"Ying Yang?" Rain asked.
"Right, and he ran out into the road. He was bleeding pretty badly once he got hit by a car," I said. He looked crushed. Then, he turned to Cherry and glared.
"Why?" he whispered.
"What? I thought it would be funny," Cherry said. He was glaring daggers at her and that's when Joe stepped up.
"You b***h! Why don't you stop being so damn proud of yourself!" she shouted. Everyone, including me, looked at her shocked. She's usually so quiet! Cherry glared at her and said
"I may be a b***h, but at least I'm not some ugly, loser w***e!" That's when Joe snapped, she tackled Cherry to the ground and started punching her over and over again. This wasn't some cat fight, Joe was actually landing in some good punches while Cherry screamed.
"Get the b***h off of me!" Cherry yelled. Justin pulled Joe off of her and Joe was practically seething with anger. Damn, someone has anger issues. But can you really blame her?
"I hope you rot in hell!" Joe said. Rain and Max took Joe away from everyone and I could see her knuckles were bruising.
"You broke my nose!" Cherry said. Joe ignored her and followed Max and Rain.
"What the heck is going on here?!" Mrs. Reze screamed. "You," she said, pointing at Andy. "Explain!" Andy explained everything and Mrs. Reze took Cherry to the bus.
"We'll deal with you later, first we need to get your nose checked out," Mrs. Reze said.
"Me?! What about Joe?!" she said.
"I'm just going to pretend that nothing happened with Joe, I think that will be your punishment." Mrs. Reze smirked and the bus started driving to the hospital.
(Rain's Pov)
I walked with Joe and Max to the back of the house. What if Ying Yang isn't alright? I don't think I can handle loosing another colt. . .
"Joe, are you okay?" I said.
"I'm fine, just a little heated," she said through clenched teeth. I put my hand on her shoulder and she took a deep breath.
"Do you want some ice for your knuckles?" I asked.
"No, I'll be fine."
"What about you, Rain? Are you okay?" Max asked.
"I'm just worried," I said. Max's phone went off and he cursed.
"s**t, I gotta go. Grandma just said that grandpa's at the house. Sorry, guys. I'll text you later, babe," he said before kissing me and running home.
Joe looked at her knuckles and I was about to say something when she said, "I think I just want to be alone. Sorry, Rain, it's nothing personal, I just don't like people seeing me like this." I smiled and nodded and she ran off. I sighed and slid down the side of the house. I sat there for about two minutes just thinking when Johnny came up to me. I ignored him when he sat down next to me.
"Rain?" he said gently. I glanced at him and saw he changed his shirt.
"Are you here to insult me or hurt me? Maybe both?" I said.
He rubbed the back of his neck and said, "Look, I didn't mean what I said. I was an asshole." I scoffed.
"Yeah, didn't notice," I said. He rolled his eyes.
"Look, I'm trying to apologize. I just want everything to go back to normal," he whispered the last part and I laughed bitterly.
"Normal for me or you?" I asked . He looked at me confused.
"Huh?"
"For me, it would be before you guys ever came here. Before Max cheated on me and before Ying Yang got hit. It would just be Dad, Daddy, Max, and all our horses. You would've just been a memory," I said. Johnny bit his lip, a nervous habit I remember him having.
"But don't you want to go back to us being friends?" he asked.
"Our friendship was something that I thought no one could break up. I was a naive little kid who made a stupid promise and always hoped you would come back. Sadly, I've grown out of it now. I don't believe we can be friends like we used to. Especially after what you said," I said. Johnny shook his head.
"But, Rain! I-"
I cut him off and said, "You have new friends, Jonny. Andy, Cherry, and Justin. I may not approve of two of them but that doesn't matter."
"But you mean more to me than any of them! You can't just give up on us!" Johnny seemed close to tears, something I thought I'd never see. I sighed and looked at the ground.
"There is no 'us'. There hasn't been for four years. Just forget about me, it was so easy for you to do it before, why can't you now?" He visibly flinched at my words.
"I was stupid. I was so, so stupid to ever forget about you. Just give me one more chance!" he begged. I saw a tear roll down his cheek and he angrily wiped it away.
"Goodbye, Johnny," I said.
"NO! We promised to never say goodbye! I'm not letting you do that now. . ." I felt tears roll down my cheeks.
"Why can't you just say goodbye? It's not that hard," I said.
"It may not be hard for you but it's the hardest this for me to ever say! All I need is one more chance!" he cried. I turned away from him and sighed.
"Goodbye," I said. I heard him let out a sob.
"No, please." He was crying now. I bit my lip and turned around to face him. He looked so broken and it was all because of me. "Please, I beg of you! Don't say goodbye! You're my best friend!"
"Were," I said.
"What?" he sniffled.
"Were best friends. . .not anymore," I said, my face was emotionless but on the inside I was breaking.
"But we can fix our friendship!" Johnny screamed. I sighed and ran a hand through my hair.
"One chance," I whispered. I glanced back at him and saw he had the biggest smile and he hugged me.
"You won't regret this!" he said.
"Yeah, I hope so." I smiled and hugged him back.
He pulled away and wiped his face. He chuckled and said, "This is embarrassing..." I laughed and shrugged.
"It just shows how much you really cared," I said.
He smiled and said, "I really am sorry."
"I know you are, now let's go before people start to wonder where we are," I said. He nodded and we walked back to the front of the house.
