(Rain's Pov) Faster. . .all I could think about was beating Johnny to the house. I kicked my heal and Sully, my horse, started to pick up speed. Ruby couldn't possibly beat Sully when he's at full speed. I smirked as I saw my house come into view. I pulled on the reigns and Sully slowed down and came to a stop in front of my porch while Ruby stopped next to us. I laughed at Johnny's face as he pouted at me. "Don't be such a sore loser, no one can beat Sullivan." That's Sully's full name. "I guess you're right. Wanna go inside?" Johnny asked. I nodded and got down off Sully. We walked my horses to the field and put them inside the gate. We ran back to the house and went inside. "Hello, boys, how was your ride?" my Dad David said. I have two dads who I call Dad and Daddy. Daddy's name is Gabe. I smiled at my Dad and said, "It was good, I won when we raced back here!" He laughed and pat me on my back. "That's great! Sullivan's a fast horse. Ruby is, too, just not as fast," Dad said. Johnny and I nodded and Daddy came into the living room. "Hey, guys, dinner is done," Daddy said. We nodded and went into our huge dining room. I'm not even joking, the table could fit twenty people. Why we have it, I dont know. It just came with the house. We all sat at the last 4 chairs and on the table was four plates of baked chicken and rice. We all dug into our meal and made small talk. "So, Rain, how's your homeschooling coming with Dad?" Daddy asked. "It's going great! He's a great teacher!" I said. Dad smiled and laughed a little. "Well, I'm glad you think so," he said. I smiled at him and Johnny cleared his throat. We all turned to Johnny, who had a nervous look on his face. "I have something to tell you guys. . ." he said. I turned to him worried. "What?" I asked. He sighed and said, "I'm. . .I'm leaving." He looked down and I felt my heart drop. Leaving? Like leaving early from dinner to go home? What does he mean by that? "What do you mean?" I asked. He looked into my eyes and I could see his eyes had a sad look to them. "I'm moving away," he said. I bit my lip as my eyes started getting watery. "You're joking! You have to be joking!" I said. He shook his head no and a sob escaped my lips. "I'm so sorry," he whispered. I stood up from my chair, knocking it down in the process, and sobbed. My heart felt like it was being stabbed over and over again. I could see my parents biting thier lips. "Rain, calm down," Dad said, coming over to me. Johnny got up and went to hug me. I let him and I crired into his shoulder. I could feel them slightly moving up and down so I could tell he was crying. Why would he need to move? His life is perfect here! "Why do you need to move?" I asked. It was muffled because of his shoulder but he still heard it. "My dad got a new job in the city. I'm sorry, I begged them to let me stay but they won't let me. I'm so sorry, Rain. You have no idea how much I hate this." I sniffled and looked up at him. "But we promised never to leave each other. We promised to stay friends forever!" I said. He hugged me tighter and said, "I know, and we'll keep that promise. I'll see you again someday, this isn't goodbye." I sniffled again and nodded. "Promise?" I said. He smiled a little and nodded. "Promise," he said. I laughed a little and he pulled away. I looked over at my dads who had tears in their eyes. Johnny went over to them and hugged each of them. They wiped their eyes and Johnny turned back to me. "I have to go, were leaving now," he said sadly. I nodded and walked him to the door. He saw I was still slightly crying and gave me a sad smile. "Don't think of this as goodbye, just think of it as see you later." That made me smile a little. I laughed through my tears and nodded. "I will, like you said before, this isn't the last time we'll see each other," I said. He smiled and nodded. "I guess I'll see you later, Rain. . ." he said. He opened the door and walked out. "Yeah, see you later, Johnny," I said. He walked to his car and got in the back and his parents drove off. And that was the last time I ever saw him.
