Chapter One

*Four years later* I ran home from the market and inside. I saw Dad sitting on the couch with his laptop. "Hey, Dad, where's Daddy?" I said. He looked up from his laptop and smiled at me. "Out feeding the horses, why?" "I picked him up a coke and here's yours," I said and handed him a coke from out of the bag. He thanked me and smiled. "So, guess what," he said. I took a sip of my sprite and looked at him. "What?" "Daddy found a colt someone dropped off and he wanted to know if you wanted him. He's a sweet little guy, I think you and Sully could take care of him well," he said. I smiled excitedly and nodded my head. "Yes! Yes, of course!" I said and he chuckled. "Great, go find Daddy and tell him," he said. I nodded and grabbed the keys to the tractor. I ran outside, got in and started driving down the field to the barn. I saw daddy walking with a bail of hay on his shoulders. He set it down in the barn and he looked at me and smiled. "Hey, came to see the new colt?" He smirked at me. I nodded and climbed out of the tractor. "Yes, sir, does he have a name?" I asked. "Nope, we were waiting for you," he said. I nodded and went inside the barn and over to Sully's stall. I saw a black and white painted colt laying down under Sully. My jaw dropped and I said, "Awe! He's so pretty!" I heard my Daddy chuckle and I laughed a little. He walked up to me and put his hand on my shoulder. "Well, he's all yours. Ehat are you going to name him?" Daddy said. I thought about it and smiled. "How about Yin Yang?" I said. Daddy smiled at me and nodded. "That's a good name! I got to go help your Dad with something, did he tell you?" I stopped petting Ying Yang and turned to daddy. I looked at him confused and said, "Tell me what?" He bit his lip and sighed. "Were going to be having some. . .guests," he said. I looked at him confused. "Guests? Like who?" I said. "We're going to be having a high school class come and stay with us for one week. They are going to learn what it's like to live on a farm," he said. My jaw drop and I felt my hands start to shake. "One week? As in seven days? Seven days of strangers walking around our house?" I said. He nodded and I ran a hand through my hair. "Yeah, I think I'll stay with my boyfriend," I said. He looked at me and nodded. "Okay, they'll be here tomorrow, and I'm sure Max won't have a problem with it," he said. I smiled and nodded. "But, are you sure you don't want to stay? You could make a new friend." I looked at him like he was crazy. "Yeah, because who wouldn't want to be friends with the goth boy?" I said sarcastically. He smacked my arm gently. "You're one of the nicest people I know, you'll be a great friend," he said. "Yeah, because look at how that turned out last time," I said sadly. He sighed and hugged me. "Rain, forget about Johnny. He moved, it wasn't his fault." I bit my lip and nodded. "Yeah, but he never called or anything," I said. "True, but just try to, please?" he said. "Okay, fine, now I'm going to take Ying Yang for a walk," I said. He nodded and I opened Sully's stall door and Ying Yang got up. He slowly walked up to me and I could tell he was hungry. "You want some milk Ying?" I said. He neighed and I laughed. I got a bottle and mixed up some of the formula we had and walked over to him. I held it out and he came right up and started drinking. After he finished I got Sully and we started walking Ying Yang. (Johnny's pov) I ran across the field and caught the ball in the end zone. I fell to the ground and heard the coach blow his whistle. "That's enough for today! Johnny! Bring the ball to me!" he yelled. I rolled my eyes and got up, my shoulder aching in pain. I ran up to coach and handed him the ball as he told me to hit the showers. "Yo, Johnny boy, that was a nice catch!" Andy, my best friend, said. "Thanks," I said. We went into the locker room, showered, and got dressed. He walked over to me and said, "Can you believe we have to go to that stupid farm tomorrow?" I scoffed and nodded. "I know, what's it called again?" He thought about it and said, "Moyer's ranch." My eyes went wide and Andy looked at me curiously. "I know that ranch," I said. He tilted his head to the side and asked, "Really? How?" "I lived next door to this boy who was my best friend. We used to ride horses and stuff there all the time," I said. "Wow, never took you for the country type," he said and laughed. I rolled my eyes and hit his arm. "I'm not! At least not anymore. . ." I said and sighed. I know Rain hates me now. I mean, I completely ignored him when I moved. I groaned and said, "This is going to be the longest week ever!"
