"I don't agree!"
What did she just say?
Although everyone had clearly heard what Louisa had just said, they couldn't help but ask the question in unison.
"What did you just say?"
The Old lady's brows slightly creased and she fixed her glance on Louisa who didn't seem to have any intention of refuting her words. Her words at that moment was risky but she had no intention of giving up just yet, she needed to gain everyone's respect and abstain from being trampled or looked down by everyone.
"Sister, what did you just say, are you trying to defy...", Louisa immediately cut off Yasmine before she could say anymore that might lead to her downfall. Her sister was indeed too fast to react, so she wasn't going to give her a single opportunity to get back at her.
"Yasmine, you rush your words too fast, impulsiveness leads to misunderstandings. It's always better to use your brain before uttering words, less you act rashly."
"You... you're obviously the one acting rashly, just now grandma had given her judgement, but you seemed displeased."
"Sister is right, I'm indeed displeased by the judgement.", Louisa replied calmly, ignoring the victorious sneer on Jasmine's face and her ambitious wish to make sure that that she falls into her trap.
But what trap exactly.
Louisa smiled as soon as she looked at how desperate Yasmine was struggling. Her smile was simple and polite, hiding nothing malicious, but Yasmine suddenly felt shivers run down her spine.
'What's that look?'
Louisa ignored Yasmine's frozen expression and turned towards the old lady who hadn't said a word for a while but carefully listened to their bickering.
This so called grandmother wasn't also an exception to the number of people who wanted to watch her fall from every step that she took. Louisa could only feel sad for the previous host of the body, but she couldn't step back at this moment.
Whoever wanted her to fall, would fall and kneel in front of her, but as for now she had to play in their game.
"Grandma, just now..."
"You're bold, you dare question my authority."
'Question her authority?'
Whether it was the truth or not the old lady would never make it easy for anyone who had the intention of standing on spar with her. She had the highest authority at the Woods and her decision could either destroy or give one some advantage. It was not time yet to offend this egomaniacal grand mother, so the best thing was to get on her good books first.
"I dare not grandma, my words just now meant no hidden meaning. I think highly of grandma because of the rules she had valuing so I just wanted to remind sister to get a hold of one of them."
The family rules, why did she bring up the family rules just now, don't tell me she?
Yasmine panicked, gritting her teeth she glared at Louisa, hoping she would get scared. At least it did work in the past, but Yasmine failed to understand that Louisa was no longer the naive girl who used to abide to her.
'Want to threaten me, dream on!'
"Grandma, just yesterday I had gone through the family rules of article five which talked about slander and another for insult. Sister do you know what it says..."
"I ..."
Yasmine paused, clenching the hem of her skirt to hard that her knuckles turned white. Louisa knew that she had always been lazy, so she had never learnt the rules. Besides Besides she always found it stupid and wondered why such old rules still existed.
For goodness sake they were in the 21st century.
Why would she keep the stupid family rules in her head just because he grandmother was still living the ancient period of antiquity.
'I...why would sister suddenly mention the family rules?", Yasmine said as cold sweat ran down her face when she looked at her grand mother's serious face. How could she forget that her grandmother valued family rules a lot, she would be death if her grandmother knew she had never taken a glance at the rules.
"Family rules are very important, don't you know that, 'dear sister."
"Of ...of course, I'm aware."
Yasmine stuttered, feeling pressure with Louisa's sudden closeness.
"Then you should know that article four of our family rules forbids false accusations and it says, anyone who falsely accuses family members without proves should be punished with three days hard labour. And also article five of the family rules forbids insults anyone caught insulting the other should apologize and kowtow to the victim. This article is of course different for that of maids who are forced to quit their job or have their salary deducted."
Louisa barely finished her words, before she shot a cold glance at Susan who suddenly shivered. Louisa's blue eyes had landed on her like a fierce ice spear piercing through her body like a spear.
"Is that so, grandma."
Perfect
The old lady almost exclaimed inwardly, but she couldn't show her happiness just yet for few words pronounced. As expected, she wasn't somebody that could easily be pleased by sweet sugar words.
"Indeed great, do you know the other family rules?"
"Of course, if grandma wishes, I can recite the rest with pleasure."
"Go ahead.", the old lady gave her approval for Yasmine to recite the rest of the family rules. However, Yasmine scoffed when Louisa agreed to recite them. The family rules were numerous and even if one reads them each day, they might never be able to recall each of them. The old lady had been the only one who was able to recite them, even at her age she was still able to say them.
'What a stupid girl, does she think she's so good, then I'll like to watch you make a fool of yourself and I'll be the first to help you fall back even harder.'
Louisa didn't need minds to know exactly what Yasmine had said. Her expression had already said everything. But what she never expected was that Louisa was able to recite everything. It was a piece of cake to her to recall everything with her photogenic memory and with the combination of the previous host memories, she just had to take a single glance at the rules and everything was in her head.
"Am I right Grandma?", Louisa confidently said, while the old lady gave a touch to her glasses with affirmation. But of course no one had actually expected the old lady's words to carry praises.
"Good, you did a good job!"
Her appreciation this time were sincere, causing her to look at Louisa with expectations than disdain as it had always been.
"How...how is it possible?"
Louisa looked at Yasmine's startled look and smiled.
"What's wrong sister, you look disappointed, are you disappointed at the rules or by grandma..."
