THROUGH THE SCHEMES OF FATE

COMPLICATED

"Mother!", Louisa(Jane) exclaimed inwardly, looking at the same face image that reminded her of her mother. It was like a dream or an illusion, she couldn't really tell. 'Was this mother?'

Perharps she would have concluded that this woman in front of her was her mother if she hadn't witnessed her mother being killed through a car accident. That day was a day she dared not forget even if she was reborn. It was on a sunny day and their mother took her and Sara to the amusement park, but on their way back, Sara lose track of them and almost got hit by the car. In order to protect Sars, her mother covered her.

Sara was still injured, but her injuries weren't fatal, but she lost memories of that day. But now that she thinks of it, Sara might not have lost those memories at all.

Jane who had kept those memories and lived an empty robotic life, following just what she was told to do, her life and responsibilities became nothing more but an obligation. Two years after her father got married to another woman who took care of her like a biological mother, yet Jane wasn't able to accept her and now she regrets it, maybe Edna was indeed a good mother, but because she was naive and listened to Sara she was indifferent to Edna and caused her to be chased out of the house.

"Louisa, I'm so glad that you're finally awake."

The warmth of this woman was cheerful and affectionate, just like that of her mother, the love she exuded was the same. Yet, it didn't change the fact that she was nothing more but a stranger.

"You don't know how scared I was when I heard you fell from stairs, I rushed back as soon as I was informed.

'Fell from stairs.' no wonder she felt painful on her head as soon as she woke up.It wasn't caused by the the effect of her accident. Not sure how the previous owner of the body fell from the stairs, but it was definitely not an accident.

"Are you okay, you look pale?"

"I...", there was not much that Louisa(Jane) could say at that moment, only questions filled her mind, but she dared not ask a single question.

"Oh, I understand."

"Huh?"

For a moment, Louisa(Jane) thought she had been found out, but it wasn't possible, apart from the soul, this body identical to her previous body hadn't changed in a bit.

"I was told you lost your memories after you woke, the doctor said it wasn't serious, but it was normal since you hit your head so hard."

Indeed she had been visited by so many people lately, a doctor, her two evil sisters, a maid that was barely worthy of trust and now...her mother.

"Louisa...Louisa...are you okay?", her mother snapped her out of her thoughts, she looked worried, so Jane could tell that Louisa was indeed loved by this woman. Maybe this was fate, but she became Louisa and her mother was back again. For now she couldn't change anything, but trying to understand her new life.

"You must be tired, I'll let you rest, old madam would be back tomorrow. But you don't have to worry about her, as long as I'm here, she won't be hard on you, now go to sleep."

"OK mother.", Louisa(Jane) replied and once again that so called old madam was brought up again. Not certain who she was, but it seemed she had a lot of influence in this new world of hers.

"Miss....", Twenty minutes after her mother left, Ermine came, kneeling in front of Louisa (Jane) head down.

"Why are you here again...I don't need you."

"Miss, I know I was wrong, but please forgive me, I shouldn't have helped Miss Yasmine in tricking, it was my fault...but I had no choice, she had my brother."

Ermine said and Louisa(Jane) could sense that the girl was sincere, maybe she wasn't at fault as mentioned, but she still betrayed the previous owner of the body.

But even if she wasn't to be trusted, she seemed to be the only one who knew a lot about Louisa. Louisa might have been a fool, but to be able to use Ermine, the two sisters, might have known that Louisa was very close to her. Whether Ermine's brother's kidnap was true or not, she couldn't confirm it, at least, not now that she was still puzzled about her new life.

Louisa(Jane) sighed and it took her few steps to regain her sit on a couch.

"Since you don't want to leave, I'll give you another chance to be loyal to me."

"Really miss!", Ermine exclaimed with a bright smile, but she couldn't tell that the expressionless Louisa(Jane) wasn't truthful with her words.

"I can give a single chance on one condition."

"What do you want miss, tell me and I'm ready to do it."

"Fine, as you already know, I have no memory of this life and I need you to tell me about myself and this place."

"Miss, you mean...."

"Every little detail.", Louisa(Jane) replied without budging. Tomorrow was going to be a tougher day than today and she needed to be prepared in advance.

"OK miss...well, I can't tell about your birth, because I wasn't there at that time, but miss was actually born a fool. That was the reason why you got bullied a lot by your sisters, Yasmine and Alina... but I think they acted more like that because miss was greatly favored by lady Annie and old master."

'Mrs. Annie?', Louisa(Jane) immediately guessed Ermine must be talking about the woman who is supposed to be her mother. There was so many to know and Ermine had said more than she had needed, but from the stories she had been told, Louisa had lived a miserable life and at the end she was asked to replace a disable devil in the place of her sisters. Just two months after her union with the devil she was tricked back to the mansion, framed and punished by the old madam. As if it wasn't enough, the two sisters attempted to kill her.

Jane thought her life was miserable, but Louisa's life was worst than death. Even if she wasn't a fool, such torture could end up turning her into one.

What shocked her most through the stories, was the fact that she was in a prison beyond escape. Living in another continent miles away from home, this mansion was also situated on a private Island.

It was indeed still a long way to go home, but she had to back home or she might still lose her life.

"Tell me, I can get my freedom ?"

Her words stunned Ermine, she didn't know if she heard wrong. But she wouldn't be surprised if Miss Louisa wanted to leave.

"Forget it." She didn't want to think too much for the mean time, in this unfamiliar place, though she despised staying with scheming and unfamiliar family members, she couldn't make decisions in haste.

"You can live now...I need to rest.", Louisa(Jane) waved Ermine away while rubbing her temples. She thought escaping was a good idea, she suddenly wanted to live on seclusion, but after much consideration, she decided against it, it was best not to be impulsive.

"So annoying...."

She was helpless, yet a sigh a relief escaped her pink lips.
