The Fortress has never been this quiet before. It was eerie. It was lonely. And I felt it right through my heart. It was never really a loud place to begin with, but there were always white noises that hummed in the air, showing signs of life and activity and home. But today wasn’t a normal day. It was as though silence was a vengeful spirit that had cloaked the entire place, and everybody in the fortress did not know what to do but to stand still. I didn't know what to do. Not without her.
