Liam lifted his head, looking back at his father. A hint of hope cast on his heart as Liam’s father smiled at him. It was a relieved smile. A smile that Liam doubted. Was it genuine or forced?
Mike tapped the vacant spot beside him. “Sit,” like a dog, he ordered Liam.
Liam nodded his head without hesitation. With trembling knees, he walked towards his father. Liam lowered his head as he sat beside Mike.
Liam’s soul almost left his body after Mike tapped his shoulder. Mike leaned closer and whispered to Liam. “I’m giving you the last chance to make things right,” Mike cleared his throat as he rose from the couch. “I’ll go grab a beer for us,” with a smile, Mike excused himself.
