Chapter 3

2019 Words
Krystal “Fine, I am here to get inside my new club,” he replied. “I am too.” I replied to him. “Cool, we have the same reasons,” he replied casually. “What club did you join?” I asked him softly. Of course, I did not want to be so casual with him and get wrong ideas. Or I am just the one who is thinking about it. But now he is talking with me casually. He does not seem the kind of person who casually talks to people, but maybe I am wrong about the way I try to interpret his words and tone of speaking. “The student council, why?” He replied. “Strange, aren’t you supposed to get in after being voted by the students in this school?” I said to him. At least that is the basics I knew before becoming a student council member. Students on the campus should vote for their liking and the one who is responsible for the position. He seems to be a freshman like me too. He also looks like we are at the same age. And besides, I saw him a while ago when I was looking for the broadcasting stall. “I forgot his name.” I said to myself. “I was given a chance by the whole school of Monte College to become an instant student council member.” He replied to me. “What the hell am I hearing right now? Is this real?” I asked myself. It is really strange for a school to instantly make a freshman a student council member. I mean, their job is tough and needs a lot of responsibility. “Why would they do that?” I asked him seriously. I suddenly felt worried about being alone with this guy, because what if he is not really a student in this school? What if he does something to me? We are alone together, so there is a big chance that he could do anything to me here. He also has a good physique and I think that he goes to the gym to get the body he has right now. “Because I am over qualified.” He replied with a lot of confidence. “Did he just brag at me?” I asked myself as I realized what he had said a second ago. The worry I was feeling a while ago was perished by his words. “Never heard of that before.” I replied to him honestly. “I was awarded a lot of times because of my leadership skills by various organizations. If you don’t believe me, you can look it up on Google and you will surely see my face there.” He replied and I did what he said. “If he is thinking of a bait. I am not the kind of person who will go along with something like that without looking for proof.” I said to myself as I took my phone out of my pocket. I typed on Google search 'high school student awarded with various leadership awards' and as soon as I clicked search, I saw his face and articles about him on Google. Then I changed my attention to him to see if he really was the person on Google. I forgot his name and felt embarrassed to ask his name, so I made a lot of effort by typing a lot of words just to find out if he was saying the truth to me. “They are the same person,” I said to myself, and put my phone back in my pocket. I can’t believe that this person standing in front of me, who, I forgot the name, is actually quite famous. “Finished?” He said. “Obviously, yes. Congratulations.” I replied to him. I don't know what else to say to him other than congratulate him. “Thanks. Why aren’t you having fun there, by the way?” He asked as he pointed the way to where I was before. “Why the hell is he still asking a question when he already saw I was about to step closer to the club room’s door?” I said to myself. “I don’t like things like that. In short, fun is not in my vocabulary. Strange right? But I still don’t care and, if you excuse me, I badly want to try opening my new club room’s door and get inside.” I said to him. I hope he understands and not hear what I said in a bad way. Because I don't want to be in another fight. If we fight, he will be the third person on the list of today's enemies. “I understand…” He replied to me as soon as I turned my back at him to open the club's door. “He does?” I asked myself. I feel glad to hear it from him because, ever since I was young, I had never heard anyone understand me except for my personal maid. It is really heart-warming, most especially because he is the same age as me. Well, that is what I least think of his age. “I am also here because I got tired of all the crowd.” He said to me. I was still not turning back, but I was not moving an inch so I could listen to him. “Good for the two of us then,” I said to him, and opened the door. I did not wait for him to talk more because I was exhausted talking for so long with him. Luckily, it turned out to be open because if it wasn’t, the atmosphere between us would be really awkward. “Thank your fairy godmother.” I said to myself as I entered the club room. “Wow!” I exclaimed upon seeing cabinets of albums, newspapers and tapes. “This is a big hellish room we have here.” I said as I turned around inside the place. At the center of the room, you will see the radio room used in broadcasting. Well, it is cool, but the reason I joined the club is not to broadcast but to see the albums here. I think some of my superiors in this club like to play instruments because there are acoustic, bass and electric guitar all over the place. I noticed a big sofa where I could imagine myself lying on the bed. I immediately lied on the bed and closed my eyes to feel it more. “How can this be so soft?” I asked myself. The sofa is really, really soft. It is softer than our expensive sofa in my house. I cannot help but to wonder where they bought such a sofa. *ring My phone rang, so I took it out again from my pocket and answered the call. I saw that the caller’s name was Ms. G, so I answered it immediately. “Hi, Ms. G I know you must have missed me already but I just got to school, right?” I said to her teasingly. Of course, she obviously called me because she was worried, not because she missed me? As I said on the call, I only got here, so why should she miss me that easily? “There you go again.” She replied on the phone. “I was kidding.” I replied to her, laughing a little. “Hmm… How is your school and your first day?” Ms. G asked. “Always the same…something that I won’t like.” I replied to her honestly. I don’t find the first day of school good after what happened between me and Naomi the witch. Ms. G knows almost everything about me since she has been a sister-like to me. She was young when she first became my personal maid. She was only 18 years old when she became my personal maid and the reason how she became my personal maid is so much like a novel. My parents offered her to go to a school as a personal maid and, in exchange, she would be given money and other things such as a house and whatever. I don’t know what exactly my dad and mom gave her but that was the case. She finished her schooling there and instantly became my personal maid when I started attending 1st grade in grade school. Sometimes, I envy her because she tells me that she was able to see my mom. She said that my mom was kind of beautiful. If only my mother had been alive. I should not have been suffering like I am now. “Any friends?” She asked. Now she is asking for something that is even more impossible to happen than the first day of school. “I don’t need friends, what I need is to please dad.” I replied to her with mixed groaning in my voice. It is a clue that I do not like what I am asked about. “Of course you do… is it not yet time for you to do that?” Ms. G asked. “That will never---ever happen. It is better to have no one than having fake ones besides you.” I said to her. “You will never know, you might have one tomorrow.” She replied teasingly. “It is free to dream.” I replied to her. “Okay fine, I will stop now. I called because I saw Naomi’s posts. She is also attending the same school as you are.” Ms. G said to me. “I know that already and we saw each other a while ago,” I said to her. “Really? So, did the two of you talk?” She asked. “I guess it was more or more like a cold war fight? I was even surprised that she suddenly talked to me, but it was because she wanted to brag things to me. As if I would get jealous of her,” I said to Ms. G as I started to get irritated all of a sudden. I am at the point that when I think about Naomi, I easily get irritated. This is maybe what they call, level up or upgrading. Such a nice word to describe it. “You should distance yourself away from her then. I almost thought that you two talked about your problems with each other.” Ms. G said. Now this is what I am talking about and was waiting for her to say it to me. Not that she was like pushing me to Naomi. “I know that is why I left her because I was irritated at everything that she was saying to me.” I said to Ms. G. “Good. Now that you already know the news and even talked with her already. I got nothing more to say but to end this call.” Ms. G said to me. “Okay. Thanks Ms. G.” I said on the phone and ended the call by myself. I was thinking that if I did not end it, she would continue talking. “I guess I will sleep now.” I said to myself. I know that it is still morning, but I believe that sleeping has no time. You can sleep anytime you want, so I will be sleeping now. This one is better than touching things inside the club room. I want to touch things inside the club room, but since I respect my superiors’ existence, I won’t dare to lay my hand on anything I can see here except for the sofa. “What was his name again? I forgot his name. Well, what do I expect from myself? I am not that good with names though.” I said to myself as I tried to remember the guy’s name a minute ago before I closed my eyes.
