Chapter 12

1194 Words
James Today is Saturday and Ryle is now in my apartment because he told me that he misses me since we don’t get to see each other more often on the campus because we are taking different areas in college. He looks hunky but deep inside he is actually a puppy. He does not even get disgusted by saying that he loves me when he misses me. I guess our friendship is just something that makes us care about each other like that. I prepared snacks and drinks for the both of us. Of course, no alcoholic beverages because if our parents know, we are dead. Besides, Ryle is driving his car. We can’t afford to die. The cola is now in our hands and we are eating snacks too. He is really something, he did not even bring anything at all. He had come into my house empty handed and was eating the snacks already. I think he has eaten 3 times more than I did. "This jerk, if he is not my best friend whom I have known for a very long time, he won't be able to enter my apartment." I said to myself as I watched him eat most of the snacks. “I heard that you and Evan’s group heiress are in the same class. Why didn’t you tell me?” Ryle said to me, who has been my best friend since we were in grade school. “I was hoping for you to know it on your own. What took you so long?” I replied to Ryle. That was actually the sole reason why I did it. I know that he will ask a lot about Krystal because he used to tell me that he likes her and wants to be closer to her. Although he didn't really like her, not like wanting to be in a relationship with Krystal because she was just beautiful. “Dude, I was busy hitting other girls and replying to all the girls you gave my number to.” He replied to me. Whenever someone asks for my number, I give them my best friend’s number because I don’t have time to talk with them and I don’t want to continue to flirt with them. My best friend, on the other hand, likes all of it. To be honest, without my help, he can get anyone because he has the looks and the money, but from what he tells me, hotter girls like me than those that come in his way. “It is not my fault, you were the one who told me to do it.” I replied to him. I am not lying. It was his decision and he was clearly the one who stated that instead of rejecting them, I could give his number to them. “Well, yeah but you should have told me, still.” He replied as he insisted, making me feel guilty, but what he was doing was not working on me. I will not feel guilty at all. “Now you already know, what else should I say?” I asked him. “What was she like? I heard rumors about her, so were all the rumors true?” He asked me. “What do you think?” I asked him. I want to know what he thinks about the question he asked. We are alone in my apartment and we are freely talking with each other since there is no one there except the two of us. We can talk about whatever we want to talk about. “I somehow think it is true.” He replied to me with a bit of hesitation. I get him. “Why do you think so?” I asked him so I would know what his reason was. “Well, she obviously has the money but I never saw or heard about her being in contests or anything like you do. You have been known for being so smart since we were in grade school because you won contests and you participated in academic contests.” He replied to me. His reason is reasonable. But it is not enough to judge a person due to all of that. “I understand you.” I replied to him as I drank the cola in my hand. “So, how about you? What do you think?” He asked me. “I personally think that she is not the kind of person who will buy her grades. Besides, her father was extremely bright back in the day. She just doesn’t like competition, maybe.” I replied to Ryle, answering his question. “Really? I did not know that.” He replied to me in shock. “I understand, if I did not read an article about his father, I would not know.” I said to Ryle. “Whaa! But have you ever heard her answer a question before in class?” Ryle asked me. “NO. Never heard her voice inside the class, she was like a nobody in the class. She does not speak to others and does not care about anyone. But she is not selfish,” I said to Ryle. “Ohh… that is attractive.” He replied to me with a smiling face on his face. “I don’t know. For your information, she hates both men and women, so I think you should give up on her.” I said straight to Ryle. I can’t even get in touch with her, so Ryle can’t at the same time. Ryle is doing tourism and doing it is lucky for him because he has an older brother that will take over their business. He does not like the business industry though, so he is really fortunate for that reason. “I just want to get to know her. That is it.” He said to me, which is not really believable. Knowing Ryle for all these years. I don’t think so. “And then, flirt with her. Right?” I asked him. “No! I will try if I like her and if that happens, I will ask her to be my girlfriend.” He said to me with all his feelings. I sipped another drink on the cola that was in my hand before talking. “She does not even want to talk. I don’t think you can ever have a nice conversation with her.” I said to Ryle. “Why not?” He asked. “I am not her. You will know when you try talking with her.” I replied to him. “Wait. Why are you telling me all these things?” He asked as he stood on the couch that he was sitting a moment ago. “What does he mean by those words?” I asked myself. Seeing him standing in front of me with also those questionable eyes makes me feel that he is thinking that I like Krystal. “You know what exactly I mean,” he replied to me. “Do you think I like Krystal?” I asked him without hesitation.
