I took a moment to catch my breath ,a moment to try and compose myself. There were so many thoughts going through my mind , so many seemingly endless possibilities that I needed to force myself to consider, especially since I had hopes of leaving this fight alive- and even if i didn’t manage to leave alive, I didn’t want to be the only one that died.
This all needed to feel like it was for something, like it was worthwhile, “ You must think you’re so smart ,don’t you?”
Not missing a beat, I responded in an instant, not wanting to make him think that he was gaining the upper hand, to make sure that he didn’t start thinking that he was managing to get to me.
“ I’m managing to outsmart you so I’d like to think that that makes me smart.”
