OBSESSION
DEREK’S POV
There’s something wholly numbing about the moment it clicks, deep in the back of my brain, that I might actually lose the first girl I’ve wanted since my ex.
Amber.
The girl who had me transfixed the very first time I saw her in her wolf form cutting at that party. She looked f*****g majestic. A vision that had branded itself into me, impossible to shake.
And yet, she’s his. Theo’s.
Her mate.
The word is bitter on my tongue even when I don’t say it aloud. So what if fate tied her to him? Fate is blind, cruel. He doesn’t deserve her. He proved that the day he agreed to her request for rejection, as if casting her aside meant nothing. Doesn’t that say everything about how little she matters to him? Doesn’t that mean I have a chance?
