I walked down the hallway with Jackson beside me. Neither of us said anything at first.
"She looked better when she fell asleep," Jackson said.
"Yeah," I said. "But I didn't like seeing her like that earlier."
Jackson nodded. "None of us did."
We reached the front door and stopped. I looked back toward the stairs, where Avery's room was.
"You think Elias will stay all night?" Jackson asked.
"Probably," I said. "He won't leave her alone."
Jackson smiled a little. "Yeah. He's good at that."
I pulled my jacket on and looked at him. "You heading home too?"
"Yeah," he said. "Text me if anything happens."
"I will," I said.
