The next day came and Elias and I decided not to go to school. It was almost the weekend, and we both agreed we could use a break. We wanted to spend time with Jackson, hang out, watch movies, eat junk food, and just relax.
Avery managed to get permission to come too, though it wasn’t easy. She had to debate with her parents for almost an hour before they agreed. They were still nervous after what happened at the society dinner. They said they didn’t want her going out much and that the only way to make sure she was safe was to keep her close. She promised to check in and come home before dark, and that was the only reason they said yes.
