***Warning of DV, Proceed with caution*** ~Sapphire~ Why did I tell him all of those things? I have never shared my life that way before. How stupid could I be? He could be as bad as Xavier or even worse. Or.... he could be spontaneous, caring and loving. All the things we need. Why would that be so bad? We feel comfortable with him. Why not flow with our attraction? Stop being such a hussy, we barely know this man, and now we are spilling our life story on him. Do you not remember the injuries littering our body right now? We could be happy. We need a safe companion for once. We can't let Xavier ruin us. Plus, he answered every question we asked, not once did he think we were joking around. Before I could finish debating with my inner self whether I should even tell him more, a soft knock came from the door. My body tensed when I saw the nurse pop her head in. Shouldn't she have gone home after Xavier hurt her? "I am sorry to disturb you, but I need to take the little miss for her infant hearing test and a man is here for you," She spoke with a stutter as her eyes jutted around. She defiantly should be home and not taking my little sister anywhere. "Ummm...." I spoke softly, looking over at Adrian. Why was I even seeking comfort and answers from him? It wasn't like he knew what man was here and there was no way he could make this nurse go home if the administrator didn't send her home. What do I do? "I can go with the nurse to keep an eye on the little princess if you want and leave two of my guards at your door," Adrian suggested, without even blinking. See, he does care. Why not see if we can trust him, even a little? Let him go with our baby sister and then let his guards protect you. It shouldn't be Xavier. I really hope it wasn't Xavier again. I wasn't sure if I could handle him again. Normally, when he talks about giving me space, he sticks to it. Especially when he thinks I have forgiven him. Who could be here then? I nodded slightly, before whispering, "Thank you." Adrian gently cradled my little dove to his chest, as he followed the nurse out. He looked back one more time, giving me a slight nod before he was out of sight. The door burst open, my body tensing up, as if my mind had already decided in fight or flight mode. "My precious little girl," John cooed as he wrapped his arms around me. I winced slightly, as my fractured ribs adjusted to the pressure. What was he doing here? Didn't he say he had more work to do and to call if I needed him? He cares about us. When has he ever done as he said? He always knows when we need him and comes without us asking. "Dad.... What are you doing here? You told me to call if I needed anything, but instead here you are. Did you finish all your work?" I asked in shock, or was it confusion? The worst part was, I could feel the warm, salty liquid streaming down my face. As if my body gave permission to the assault before my mind did. I pulled away slightly, staring into his golden brown eyes sparkling with unshed tears. "Silly girl, I can tell when you need me, even if you tell me you are fine. I left my assistant to finish what I needed, and he will send the documents over when I need to sign anything. What do I pay him for if not for this?" John said with a hearty chuckle. His face morphed into concern as he took me in. I was sure I looked like a complete mess right about now. "Look at you, what did that bastard do?" *Flashback* "Hello, ma'am, sir. May I get you anything to drink?" My personal stewardess asked. "I will have whiskey on the rocks, and she will have ice-cold water." Xavier responded without even looking at Lisa. I rolled my eyes internally at the despicable behavior. No matter anyone's status, everyone should be treated with respect, especially my staff. "Good evening Lisa, I appreciate you asking. Please get him his drink, but I would like my normal, warm water with lemon and a touch of honey please. How is your father doing after his bypass surgery?" I spoke softly, but sincerely. Lisa smiled from ear to ear, telling me her father must be doing well, but before she could reply, Xavier cut us off, "Do not speak to the servant like she is your friend, or she will drain you of all your money. I told her our order, there is no need for you to speak. Ice water will be fine, now shoo." Lisa went to say something, as I just nodded to her with a slight smile as dismissal. She sighed softly before turning away. Within the blink of an eye, Xavier turned towards me, his hand around my throat as his eyes stared daggers into my soul. "How dare you disobey me? How dare you talk without permission? Do you think you are high and mighty, above everyone else? You make all this money and become famous and that makes you special? You are nothing but a whore." His voice was raspy and deep, as his other hand punched me in the ribs and stomach with every word. One punch landed on my wrist as I tried to block his assault. He slammed my head into the armrest when he was done speaking. My world was spinning, dark spots littered the interior of my jet. He stood up, dusting himself off as he walked towards the bedroom. "I will take the whiskey into my bedroom, as I seem to be tired now." He stated casually as he grabbed the drink out of Lisa's hand and sauntered into the bedroom, closing the door behind him. Lisa ran over to me, breathing fanatically in panic. She searched for a medical kit and kept chanting, "It's okay, everything will be alright. You are fine, just don't pass out on me." What she didn't know was that I was numb to all of this abuse and I couldn't stay awake any longer. *End of Flashback* John was speechless as he stared into my eyes. I could feel my lip trembling as the tears seemed to have dried up. Could it be possible that John hates me now that he knows the truth? Could he think I am a failure for not protecting myself? He would never think that of us. He loves us, he's the father our own father sent into our lives. "I am so happy you are finally telling me the truth. You walk down a runway for God's sake. There is no way you could be clumsy. I am here for you and that scum will get what he deserves." John muttered angrily as he engulfed me in his arms tightly. "Fractured ribs, remember." I whispered as I tapped him on the arm. He released me slightly, looking me over as if he had just broken his favorite toy. "I am fine dad, just forget about Xavier and we can move on. Don't get in trouble." "Oh, I won't do anything, Karma may though." John said determinedly as he walked away from me and started to search the room as if he was looking for something. "Where is the baby your mother decided to have and ditch on you?" Before I could answer, a buzzing noise took over the space. I knew it was John's phone because I still hadn't turned mine on to vibrate. When John was around me, he never had his phone on noise, always saying I was more important than anyone else. "What?" John snapped as he placed his phone on speaker. "Uh... Sir? I am so sorry for disturbing you, but we have a problem." His assistant sputtered out nervously, making John roll his eyes. I told him to give the poor guy a chance for the last three years, that he would come out of his shell and John, the big burly man in front of me, was just intimidating. John reluctantly agreed, but that wasn't without me hearing him complain constantly about how his assistant couldn't accomplish one task without being babysat, and he couldn't spit out information without being pushed. I thought he was exaggerating, but I think he may not have been. "How could there be a problem? I did everything before I left other than schedule the last meeting with London and make sure the board signed the paperwork before I did. You literally only had to do two things." John ranted, frustrated, as he paced around the room. I could tell his patience was thinning. "Well, London wants you in person and the board wants you to call within the hour before he signs anything. Then there was something about everything that must be signed and submitted by tomorrow, midday." The assistant stuttered, taking over ten minutes to get that short phrase out. "I will deal with it. Send everything to my email and I mean EVERYTHING," John said, annoyed as he hung up the phone. He turned to me, looking guilty and conflicted. "We need this deal dad, go I will meet you in London. My little dove is being released on Saturday," I said with certainty, honestly crying and being held by my dad seemed to be all I needed. I feel better for sure, other than my sore ribs, that is. "Alright sweetheart, also decide a name for that little bug and get out of this retched place as soon as possible." John stated with a chuckle while hugging me and planting a kiss on my forehead. I always felt safe in his arms. He looked down at me and I knew he didn't want to leave. "Before I forget, the bodyguards are here, four here and four at the hotel, so they can alternate sleeping schedules." "Thanks dad, see you Sunday," I stated happily as I guided him out the door. "I will name her, or maybe little dove while be her name for a while." John turned around with a serious look before letting a grin slide out. "Picking up all my worst traits," he chuckled before taking off. I decided to quickly shower while my little dove was being examined. I needed one desperately after being assaulted by Adrian a second time in one day. I was sure I looked like a mess.
