ArubaThe earliest settlers on the island of Aruba were the Arawaks, they were displaced by the more violent Caribes from South America. But after many centuries under Dutch jurisdiction the island remains rich and peaceful. By a stroke of good fortune it had avoided most of the European conflicts, its trademarks were peace and prosperity. Now it also had black gold in the form of numerous American oil wells and refineries that had made some of it's people the richest in the world. It also had as its legacy the caves of Guadarikiri and Fontein in the southeast. But there were clouds gathering on the horizon of this island paradise, it was changing and about to receive a shock to its system.
