Nassau BahamasGuy was feeling homesick and longing to be on the deck of "Hidalgo". He, Jem and Rose came down the steps of the plane at Nassau Airport onto the sun drenched Grand Bahamian Island, the warmth after Norway struck them like a blow in the face. It had a soporific effect and it was hard to maintain their energy on their taxi ride to the centre of Nassau. Driving along the small roads Jem looked around with interest, it was her first visit to the island. “Is this the main island of the group?” she asked. “Yes,” replied Rose. “There are over a hundred islands and about 700,000 locals. Like Bermuda it has a strong British bias and absorbed many loyalists from America after the US War of Independence. Also like Bermuda the dollar rules now.”
