I went back to my room after the meal with Caius, and I was relieved when I closed the door behind me so that I was alone again. He wasn’t even remotely bothered by the fact he had killed Lydia, and when I bumped into him in the hallway he had probably been on the way to wash her blood from his body. This was a reminder of who he was, and what he was, and that he would never change. He was brutal, and ruthless… more of a beast than a man. Lydia wasn’t nice to me, but that didn’t mean she deserved to die. Even lying to Caius didn’t mean she deserved to die. But he had murdered her without hesitation and then asked me calmly if it bothered me. The worst part was realizing it didn’t bother me.
