I didn’t apply myself quite as much after I realized that Jax probably hadn’t been dreaming of a way to find me. It felt like all the work I had put in and the things I had done in the name of being given a chance to find him were for nothing; even if I did find him, he probably wouldn’t remember me amongst a crowd of other young women. Rin was upset with me when she realized I wasn’t making any further progress, but I hadn’t realized how disappointed she was until she called me over while I was supposed to be getting ready to attend another dull event with boring, stuffy men.
