Caius was clearly embarrassed by the fact he was incapacitated, but he wasn’t too proud to accept my help and he leaned on me for support as we walked back to his room together,
“I wish you hadn’t hidden this from me for so long. Were you trying to prove how manly you are? I refuse to believe a man like you doesn’t know how serious a wound like this is. ”
“Does it matter?” he muttered through clenched teeth.
It probably didn’t, but I wanted to know what had possessed him to ignore this and I knew it was about more than a need to hide it from people who would take advantage of him if they knew.
“You need to tell me who is a danger to you, Caius.”
He laughed dryly, despite the pain he was in, and rested with one of his hands pressed against the wall.
