As soon as I returned to my room I closed the door behind me and hoped that Caius would not attempt to talk to me. I was furious at myself, and I really didn’t want to be confined to my room this way but there were no other options and it was late enough that I needed to try to rest, anyway. I removed the clothing and jewelery I had worn out on my trip to the theater with Marius, and then paused for a moment in front of the sheet of polished bronze that I used as a mirror in this room. I wasn’t particularly interested in how I looked, but when I caught sight of my own reflection I raised my fingers to my mouth and pressed them gently against the soft skin. My pulse quickened at the memory of Caius’ lips on mine and I screamed in frustration and pulled the polished bronze from the shelf
