Isabella:
"Dad is lying? Richard is not the one who bought Angela," I murmured, refusing to believe what my father said.
*How is that possible? How can Richard Henshaw be the one who bought my sister?*
My hand trembled, anxiety coursed through my veins as I phoned Richard back.
"Hello," Richard's deep voice hit my eardrum, calm and soothing as always and making me wet.
"Richard, are you the one who bought my sister?" I asked with a trembling voice. The call went silent until Richard's tone shifted to one of resentment, confirming to me that he was the one who had bought Angela.
I could not believe my ears as Richard said, "Tell me, why did you put your sister up for sale? You did not think that I would visit the Dark Realm Auction tonight, did you?"
"No, I…" I was at a loss for words to explain.
"Tell me why you sold your sister? You signed the consent form and sold her against her will. Did you not?" Richard queried me, and I could not believe he was ready to spend fifty million dollars on my younger sister.
"I am sorry, Richard. Please, I just wanted to get rid of Angela," I admitted, knowing that I could not afford to lose Richard. I supposed this was karma paying me back for my sins.
My boyfriend bought my sister as his property. How do I get Richard back? How do I fix this mess? I had thought it was only older men who needed young women to sleep with that frequented the Dark Realm Auction.
Unable to bear the hurt at Richard's silence, I snapped at him, "Richard, why did you not tell me that you have my sister with you? Did you touch her? Please, I will come over to your house tomorrow and I can swap with Angela. Please, she did not deserve to be sold. I will willingly offer myself to you, as compensation for my mistake," I said, trying to win Richard back.
Richard's voice grew icy and froze my heart. "I do not want to see you in my house, Isabella. We are over, and as for your sister, Angela, she is my property now. I do not have any intention of returning her, neither to you nor to the Dark Realm Auction house. So deal with the fact that you already sold your sister and she belongs to me."
"Please, Richard. I am sorry. I did not know that you would visit the Dark Realm Auction. Please do not touch my sister. She is innocent. Please…." I cried over the phone call, knowing that I had to try again.
"Now you know that your sister is innocent. What if I had not purchased her? Would you have called the other mafia man not to touch her? I am sure by now, she would be moaning under another man's deep pleasure. Do not call me to discuss your sister again. I do not want to see you, and your relationship with me is cancelled. If you value your life, you should keep your distance from me from today onward. If you breach it and show up in my presence, I will have you sold. Trust me, Isabella. I know how to play the game."
Richard ended the call on me, and I burst out crying aloud in my room.
"What have I done wrong? How did I not see this coming? How did I lose Richard to Angela? I was only trying to get rid of her. Now, I lost Richard and everything." I cried, scattering everything in my room.
"What am I going to do now?" I tried calling Richard again, but the same line that went before said, "The number you are trying to call does not exist."
"What? Richard has blocked me?" I nervously bit my bottom lip, feeling dread wash over me.
I tried calling Angela to warn her to stay away from Richard, but her phone rang repeatedly and there was no response.
I remembered that Angela's bag was in my car.
Shaking my head, I paced about the room, knowing that I had to escape before morning arrived.
I could not be here until my parents returned. I knew my father did not give empty threats. But would I be able to run away? Would I be able to hide from all this?
"No, I cannot leave. I will wait until Dad returns so that I can get his help to plead with Richard. Angela cannot become Richard Henshaw's wife? No way! My sister cannot!"
After thinking of my problem, I saw it was past midnight.
Sleep clouded my vision. Left with no other option, I went to the bathroom to shower, feeling the cold water splash on my head.
The reality of my situation hit me hard.
Trembling, I turned off the water, got out of the bathroom, and wore my blue nightdress. Then I moved over to the bed to sleep.
My phone rang, the loud ringtone breaking the tense silence in my room.
When I reached for my phone, I saw it was an incoming call from my mother, Quinn Moraga.
"Hello, Mom," I spoke nervously, biting my bottom lip.
"Isabella, how can you sell your only sister off? Your father and I left Angela in your care to look after her. What drove you to sell your sister? How can you do such?" Mom asked, her tone filled with tears. I knew that she loved my sister more than me.
"I am sorry, Mom. I just thought to sell Angela off. To take her away for a while."
"Shut up!" Mom yelled, her voice trembling.
"Do you not know what happens to the Dark Realm Auction girls? Those young women are used for prostitution, and you willingly agreed and signed it and had your sister's life sold to the mafia men. Are you insane? Do you realize the gravity of the situation that you put Angela into? She cannot live by her own will anymore, but by what her master chooses to do with her. She cannot further her education either. Her desire to become a surgeon has been cut off because of your jealousy. How can you be so cruel, Isabella? I feel disgusted that I am your birth mother too. How could you?" Mom cried over the phone, making me annoyed.
"Mom, you have always loved Angela over me. Am I not your daughter too? You make me feel useless like I am not your real daughter. Sometimes I wonder if you are really my mother. You know what, I have no regret that I sold Angela off. I only wished she had not ended up as Richard's property," I replied coldly, and my mother yelled, "Shut up, Isabella! You will regret this. You will not get away with this. Just you wait."
The call ended, and I breathed out heavily. I knew that I would be bashed, but I had not thought of Richard purchasing Angela.
*How do I fix this?* I pondered, switched off my phone, and went to sleep, as I was already exhausted.
