Chapter Five: Coffee.
While walking my way through the office, I was thinking about my brother and his wife. Way back when they aren’t married yet, they are so sweet to each other. My brother always says how proud she is for having a girlfriend like her. He obeys her so much and didn’t want to make her mad. But now, don’t want to judge but really, how has this happened to them?
That’s the reason why I don’t want to get into a relationship for now because I don’t want that someday, I will be like them. I know it was a lame reason but I really don’t want that to happen to me.
When I’m in front of our office, that’s when I realized what happened yesterday. I bit my lip and prayed he wasn’t there yet. I took in a deep breath before pushing the door open to only be disappointed because he was busy tapping on the keyboard of his laptop.
Damn, this was awkward but I have to greet him!
“G-good morning, Mr. Davids!” I greeted him even though I felt like my throat went dry.
I remembered how his cheeks turned red last night and can’t help but to hide my smile.
“Good morning too,” he greeted back.
I continued walking towards my table. I take a quick peek to see his face, I caught him hiding his face using his hand. Gosh, is he really that embarrassed about what happened last night? He’s cute when he looks like that.
I shook my head and started to work, maybe I’ll forget about what happened if I turned my attention to work. Since I had a lot of work to do too. I have to finish this as soon as possible.
A minute before 8:00 am, Jojo went inside our office together with Mitchell.
“Good morning, world!” Mitchell greeted.
“Good morning too!” I greeted back but Mr. Davids didn’t even respond back.
“Yay! Just give us even a glare, Davids,” Jojo complaint.
But then, Mr. Davids didn’t give them even a glance. They both looked at me, but I shrugged my shoulders because I really don’t know. He replied to my greeting but he didn’t do on Jojo and Mitchell. Ooh, I smell fishy! But nope, of course not! He doesn’t like me. I guess the reason is I was good to him and these two morons give him a rude welcome last week.
We started working. There’s a lot of cases we should handle. Murder, r**e, robbery, etc. There are lots of crime happens every day, that’s how the world really that evil. While reading crimes, one captured our attention is the car accident case that happened a week ago.
“Sanchez,” Mr. Davids call Mitchell for the first time. He stood up and even walk towards Mitchell’s table. I saw how his face reacted at what Mr. Davids did.
“W-why?”
Mr. Davids put down the paper above Mitchell’s table. I got curious so I look at them.
“It’s not like a simple car accident,” Mr. Davids began to talk.
Jojo chuckled, “Why do you think it isn’t?”
He pointed at the picture shown on the paper and what the paper has said there. I can’t read it.
“The car exploded because it bumped the huge tree, right? But the car didn’t reach the tree before it finally explodes,” Mr. Davids explained.
I looked closely at the picture taken by one of the investigators.
“Yeah, it didn’t reach,” I agreed.
Jojo laughed, “Is that what you’re worried about? You can just ignore that and agree that it was just a simple accident. Don’t dig into it, I’m telling you.”
Mr. Davids’ brow furrowed and he turned his head to Jojo.
“You work that way?”
Jojo was a bit shocked at Mr. Davids asked him.
“That’s because it was just a simple f*****g car accident!” Jojo exclaimed.
“And you’re one of those reasons why people didn’t get the right justice. I’m not like you,” Mr. Davids told him and walked back to his table.
“Jojo, why did you say that to him?” Mitchell asked.
“Why? Don’t tell me you agreed with him?” Jojo looked at me, “What about you? You take his side?”
I shook my head and continued what I am doing. This isn’t right. I feel like there will be a bad commotion between them. I hope it won’t get worse.
Lunch break happened and we joined lunch except for Mr. Davids. We didn’t know if where did he eat his lunch.
“He was so determined to solve a simple case. Don’t help him, huh?” Jojo asked us.
“Whatever, Jojo!” I rolled my eyes. I took in a spoonful of rice with adobo in my mouth.
“Ah, I knew it! You really like him,” he accused me again.
I didn’t answer him. I just shrugged and continued eating.
“What about you? Are you going to help him?” he turned to Mitchell.
“Don’t know, maybe,” Mitchell looks hesitant. “I felt guilty about what he said earlier.”
Jojo created a disappointed look, he pouted his lips. “Then do whatever you want, just consider even our friendship.”
This man really has a high ego. He didn’t want others to interrupt his decisions and wants. He wants everyone to agree with him. Maybe the reason why her wife leaves him.
When we returned to our office, Mr. Davids wasn’t there yet on his table. So I guess he hasn’t finished his dinner yet. I returned to my table and was shocked when I saw a cup of Coffee Americano on my table.
I gulped when I saw a note there saying. . .
“Just want to thank you again for the coffee.”
The door opened and Mr. Davids went in. He didn’t look at me, even a glance, he didn’t do. But I saw his face turned red again. Is he really like that everytime? It was not embarrassing to thanked a co-worker but why is he like that?
