Suddenly, the beach was red with blood. I ran to Accolon, trying to help him escape, but Theodric slammed his fist into my head, sending me reeling. I fell back upon the sand with a thud that robbed me of breath. While I shook off the sparks of light that littered my vision and struggled to stand, Sobian barreled into Theodric, planting her sword in his thigh and immobilizing him. Like the trained assassin she was, she flipped him over and tied his hands behind his back, her knee digging into his shoulder blades. In the same instant, Lancelot tackled Rohan. Only Elga remained free, and she used the chaos to her advantage, seizing Accolon as he moved toward Owain’s lifeless body.
