Chapter 10

Rylee POV

As we walked toward the forest line I could feel my heart rate speed up. Why was I nervous? Oh that's right cause he f*****g huge and not to mention a wolf that could probably eat me whole. No big deal right? But it was more than that. Just him, himself made me nervous. No one said anything as we walked for a couple of minutes. "You didn't respond to my text." he started out. "I wasn't sure what to say." It was warm out but I crossed my arms over my chest like I was cold. "What do you mean? Do you not believe me?" "I do but I also don't. I've known guys like you. Date the same girl off an on. Off cause there is a new conquest and on after you've won the conquest and got what you wanted." He stopped in his tracks. "That's what you think? Well its not true, we've been on and off cause I want to find my mate but sometimes thought I wouldn't so it made sense to have a backup. She hasn't found her mate yet either." I turned to face him. "So you're telling me Marissa has been it for you?" I watched as he clenched his jaw and stayed quite. I raised my eyebrows and shrugged. "I don't make the rules on this stuff." I turned to keep walking. "Who was it that hurt you?" He asked me as I froze I bit my lip. Took a breath turned and said "I don't know what you're talking about." Although the crack in my voice didn't help. He stepped closer and stared intently at me. We never broke eye contact. "You're scared of me." His smirk made my insides shiver. "well what do you expect. You're this giant wolf ...thing. That could kill me in half a second, why wouldn't I be scared of you." He chuckled "Well you're pretty fast so it may take 2 seconds but I would never hurt you." the last part he bent down close to me and whispered in my ear. I could help the visible shake of my body and the goose bumps that appeared. His voice made my eyes close as i leaned in closer, feeling and wanting him to stay that close.

He stepped away and walked through a line of trees to a clearing with wild flowers and a waterfall you could hear from here, thinking it was just on the other side of the trees across the clearing. He sat down on the grass and motioned his hand to join him. "You have questions." I nodded and sat down a few feet from him facing him.

"How are you a werewolf? Did you have to get bitten?"

He smiled. "No we are born this way. At the age of 16 we receive our wolves and learn to shift and work as one."

I c****d my head to the side "Elaborate"

He Sighed. "We are all born as werewolves but he aren't gifted our wolves from our moon goddess till 16. Then we are able to shift into wolf form. Each persons wolf is asleep till that time. They speak to us in our heads and our wolf form is their form. We just share."

I nodded. "Do you have any abilities?"

"We are just faster, stronger, and can hear and smell better than humans."

"So you're like superman's dog? Got it."

The glare and growl made me actually want to get up and run.

"Do these wolves have names? or do you name them like you would a pet?"

"they have chosen names from the moon goddess. Mine is Cable"

My eyebrows rasied " Cable. Am i able to meet him?"

I have no clue why that question came to my head. That is like going up to a wild cat and going "pspsps" and the wondering why you died. But something in me told me to meet him. I mean if he kills me I guess thats a pretty dope way to die. Right?

He was silent for a time. "No its too soon."

"whatever you say."

"Tell me about those other wolves that attacked my brother and me."

He froze and tensed.

"I don't want to scare you."

"Really? Cause I'm sitting with a huge guy that can literally turn onto a giant wolf and you think telling me about those other wolves will scare me."

"There's a difference. I wont, cant hurt you. They wont hesitate to kill you."

I looked at him and narrowed my eyes. "What do you mean you cant?"
