The moon is full today, I hear the familiar howls of wolves from different packs as I make my way to the forest. There's something strange in the air today, I can feel it, but I cannot put my finger on it.
My wolf has been restless for days now as if anticipating something, but I cannot get him to tell me what the matter is.
Adrien and I have been through a lot together, our lives are endangered, so also are the lives of other wolves like me.
The times have changed, though the humans still don't know much about us, apart from the nonsense they teach in school about the mythological lycanthropes and the crap they portray in their movies.
I mean who said werewolves are allergic to silver, though I can understand their confusion. Silver doesn't harm us, but platinum does, that bloody white metal, hurts as f**k. Thankfully, it is one of the rarest metals on earth so it is not a threat to us.
I look up at the moon and howl loudly as I feel my bones snap and change. My back cracks loudly and I land on the floor on all fours. Adrien smirks and stretches on all fours, he has been waiting for the full moon for a long time now.
As he begins to run, my mind wanders to the time when I was little and my parents were still alive. Werewolves used to be united and we used to live together as one big pack, there was only one true alpha and the rest of the alphas were in submission to him, from the stories I've been told, my father was a good and true alpha but his brother was evil and envious of him.
Cyprus who was my father's brother was one of the rare people to be blessed by the moon goddess with a human mate, his human mate complemented him in every aspect and the man also shared in his dark ambitions. Together they both terrified the wolf pack and led a mutiny against the true alpha.
They went on to start their own packs with the help of the witches, creatures that were detested by the wolves because they practiced dark magic and they called it the yellow moon pack, I don't know how they do it, but all the wolves of their pack have yellow glowing eyes.
I still remember my first and only encounter with the rogues, they brutally murdered my entire family, I was only saved by a hair's breadth.
My father's long time friend Sirius was the one who rescued me and took me in, ever since then, I and the other remaining wolves who have not sworn allegiance to the yellow moon pack have been sheltered by Sirius.
For some reason unknown to me, Cyprus will never hurt Sirius and he would never come to Florida.
Every single day, I think of nothing but revenge, I don't remember much about my parent's death because they were killed when I was still little but I remember Sage's death, my little sister was killed by the damn rogues three years ago, on a full moon night just like this one.
"Get your head out of your ass, such a big wolf like you is lagging behind." I hear Sirius mind link me.
Adrien shakes his fur and I realize that we are indeed at the back of the race, I pick up speed and soon I'm at the front of the hunt. A deer scurries past me but I ignore it because Adren and I have our eye on a bigger prize, a jaguar.
The jaguar roars at us, but Adrien smirks before he growls loudly at the animal before us. The jaguar is a bit bigger than Adren, but if there is anything Adrien loves, it's a challenge or having what is deemed impossible or forbidden.
The jaguar launches the first attack and I smile as Adrien dodges it, I tsk as Adrien goes into full mode, he growls angrily and launches at the jaguar, ripping a huge part of its neck off with his claws and teeth.
The jaguar stumbles and then drops dead bleeding from the neck, Adrien howls in victory and alerts all the wolves around to join in his feast. I could never eat raw meat or lick blood but Adrien loves it, he says it tastes better than barbecue chicken and sauce but I don't believe him.
Adrien eats to his full and then we jog to the stream to wash the blood off and to drink water, we are so deep in the forest that I know that there will be no humans for miles. My wolf feels so heavy after the meal and we lie down beside the stream to rest.
The stream reflects the bright moon and I place my paw into the stream swirling the water around the huge circle of the moon's reflection. My mind wanders to my eighteen birthday which is coming up next week and I wonder if I will find my mate.
I hope that she is a strong she-wolf so that she can help me in my plans to take revenge on Cyprus and unite the packs once more. I also hope that I am a true alpha like my father because that will be the only chance I would have at beating Cyprus.
Today is Friday, so after I rest a while, I will go and join my school friends at the club. I attend a regular human high school in Florida, alongside all of the young wolves. Sirius insisted on it and I didn't understand why, but I attended anyway.
At first, I hated having to pretend to be weak among humans and pretending that I didn't have super hearing and heightened senses, but later on, I just learned to roll with it, especially after I made amazing friends.
I sense another wolf coming towards us and Adrien tenses, he soon relaxes when he senses that it is Adria, Liya's wolf. Liya is my best friend and she is one of the strongest she-wolves that I know we are of the same age, meaning she is also yet to find her mate.
Liya is very beautiful and her wolf is equally attractive and sometimes I wonder if she would be my mate because she is perfect for me and her wolf name is the feminine of my wolf's name, I like her a lot, but just as a friend, I do not feel any attraction towards her, I'm just hoping that the mate bond between us will fix all that once we both turn eighteen.
Liya is a beta, meaning she is a second in command to the alpha, she is a very loyal friend and we were brought together by our misfortunes and our zeal for revenge, Liya is also alone in this world, as her family was killed by rogues though her younger brother who was still a baby then was kidn*pped and she has never heard from him since then.
She would recognize him if she met him though as humans say, blood is thicker than water, but according to wolves, the family bond is as strong as a mate bond.
"You found this place and you kept it all to yourself, stingy bastard," Liya muttered and kicked me with her hind leg when she got closer to me.
"Nice to see you too Liya," I replied to her and jumped up on my feet.
Liya's wolf is a bit smaller than my wolf so I walk up to her and rub my nose against hers. She is my calming influence, even though she always tried to drive me crazy one way or the other.
"Sirius asked me to check on you, said you've been acting strangely." She said and shifted back to human.
"Damn Liya did nobody ever teach you not to undress in front of a man," I yell and turn my back to her.
She smiles before she replies. "I'm not undressing in front of a man, I'm undressing in front of a wolf, I'm sorry if the wolf has the dirty mind of a man."
I shake my head at her and shift back to myself, one thing about true alpha's, you don't need to pull your clothes before you shift and when you shift back, you'll be fully clothed.
True Alphas are very unique and special.
I'm showing signs that I might be a true Alpha, but even Sirius can change without going naked and he's not a true Alpha so I don't think that counts for anything at all.
"Not everybody can shift with their clothes on." She adds and I turn back to her when I realized that she has worn her clothes.
"Adrien is restless, I haven't slept in a long while, it's like he's anticipating something but I can't tell what." I let out, I don't bother to lie to Liya because she can read me like a book and because it's just of no use.
"Well, maybe he's just anxious because you'll be eighteen soon." She says and I shake my head before she finishes talking.
"If anything, he's supposed to be quiet until we meet the one and then he'll try to win her wolf over."
"I know, maybe it's different because you are a true Alpha." She reasons and I close my eyes.
This is one of the times when Liya can't help me, I have to find out why Adrien had been so restless, even if I have to beat the answer out of him, not literally though. Harming him would be harming myself because we're one and the same.
"I need to be alone." I use my Alpha tone unknowingly, my mind is a turmoil of thoughts.
Liya flinches, she's trying to best the command in the voice, but even the strongest of wolves must now to their Alpha, the moon goddess who cursed us made it so.
"Very well then, I'm only a mind link away." She admits defeat and walks away.
"What to tell me what the matter is now?" I asked Adrien. "I need to sleep and you need to rest too, you've eaten a good meal, please let us rest."
"I thought you were going to the club." He teases and I frown, I'm way too tired to go now.
"I'll just have to cancel," I tell him and he nods in agreement.
"You ever think about the girl you gave your blue necklace to?" He asks like he doesn't hear my thoughts.
The thoughts start coming back to me, but I push them away and get up to my feet.
"I don't want to remember that night." I snapped at him and blocked him off before he could reply to me. That night was too painful for me to reminisce, so I blocked it off from my mind, I have no memory of that day anymore and I certainly do not remember the girl Adrien was talking about.
I do not wish to relive my pain, so I locked away that memory far in my mind, I will not unlock it until I seek justice for my dear sister and my parents.
I feel drowsy and I drop to the floor, Adrien has stopped being restless, seems like he's willing to let me rest. I plop down on the soft grass and drift off to sleep.
Adrien wakes me up suddenly and I groan, but I get up as soon as I realize that it is daytime. I should've been at home by now, I block my mind link because I do not want Sirius to start nagging me for staying out so late.
It's risky to let Adrien run in daylight, so I rely on my natural strength, though I'm still ten times faster than regular humans but Adren is faster. I make my way to the edge of town and just as I am about to turn home, something catches my eye.
A girl with green eyes staring curiously at me.
