Valerie’s POV
After Emily left, I asked the guards to make sure nobody came to see me. I needed time for myself to think. I knew I had done the right thing by calling for a trial, I just needed to make peace with my decision on my own. I didn’t know if Emily was as angry at me as Eveline. I knew Aries was furious and he wanted to talk to me. Wanted to convince me that I couldn’t do this, but what else was I supposed to do?
If I didn’t go through with this trial, what kind of leader would I be? If I wasn’t willing to face the consequences of my actions, what was I saying to my people? I could hear Aries freaking out on the other side of the door and my heart sank. I lowered my head onto my knees and pulled them close to my chest when I felt a small hand touch mine.
“Momma?” Dawn’s voice
