“You’re leaving?” Lorena asked me when she saw me emptying my locker. Atty. Mendez told me that if the withdrawal of the indictment was filed immediately, the release papers would be issued in the afternoon and then I would be free. I turned to Lorena and smiled weakly. “Yes,” I replied softly. For some reason, I kind of feel bad that I had to leave before them. “The prosecution will file for withdrawal of my case. My lawyer said I could get released this afternoon.” Lorena looked at me with a wide smile.
