Leaving the office with rage filling me, spurred on by my wolf, urging me to hurry up and find these rogues, we both wanted or needed to expend some of this anger somewhere.
It was always the same after a few minutes in my mother's company. She had been worse, when she had a little group of ladies with her, trying to prove she was better than me.
Better in what way? I am not sure.
She changed when Emily left, and got even worse when Emily got mated and heard she had twins. It was as if she felt robbed of grandchildren because of me. She did not get it. When I told her that Emily was not my mate, she always believed I could take her as a chosen mate.
Mum was so fixated with that girl.
The men I chose had only just eaten, having woken up after a long night out on patrol.
