Chapter Three

1097 Words
The next morning, he went out to the city with his documents and not forgetting a resume. He dressed nicely, a casual but can still be considered formal look so he won’t be out of place when entering a company. Today's his first day of job hunting after he quit the previous one, his former co-worker apologized and is willing to tell the manager the truth. He declined of course, he wasn't sure if she'll accept him again, it must be only him but he can feel their restaurant manager holding a grudge against him personally for unknown reasons. He tried first in fast food restaurants he saw and all of them declined his application. Well, he didn’t let it disappoint himself, it's still too early to assume that none of these job offers would accept his application form. Jay wanted to prove even if he lacks in the education field, he can still function and work properly. It's just a matter of hardwork and patience. But of course, riches rules the business industry so he had to keep lowkey, he doesn't want to risk bumping into someone and having them mad. "Let me see--" a growl stopped him, it was his stomach. Looking at his wristwatch, it's past noon and he hasn't eaten anything. He was focused on hunting the jobs that even eating slipped off his mind. Thanks to his landlady, she gave her pocket money. It was a big deal for him, really. He can't just sit still knowing he awes someone, not in a bad way though. "Goodafternoon Sir." The guy at the counter greeted him, showing an appealing smile that he chose to ignore before looking up the menu to find something cheap but can fill his stomach until later. Jay ended up buying burgers, of course that's common since it's a fast food chain. He stayed inside for a good fifteen minutes after eating, appendicitis is what he'll get if he decided to leave early. Checking his documents, he made sure there wasn't any typo. He's aiming for a company this time, working in the office or anything that pays well. A door chime rang, everyone bathed an eye to the newcomer except him, his cat like eyes scanning each line. "Well, I can't write a false age here and what's embarrassing if I'm already twenty seven?" he murmured to himself, munching the left burger on his hand and stuffing his mouth. "I should be proud though, I'm still alive but barely living." he chuckled, spitting out some of the bread. Looking at the wall clock inside the fast food, since his left hand was occupied, his eyes landed on a familiar figure standing not far from him. His jet black hair, his broad shoulders and his judging eyes. Jay choked to see the side profile of the same man he saw the day before. What is he doing here?! he thought and quickly retreated his glare to see the guy whipping his head. Leave. Definitely, I have to go is what he said and scream inside his head. Sipping the remaining drinks that give him a brain freeze for seconds, he storms out of the fast food chain. Without glancing nor looking back, afraid the stranger might see him again. "That was close.." he said, panting and catching his breath. The wind messes his hair, sticking out everywhere. ___ "I'm sorry there's no vacancy. You can leave your contact and we'll get back to you once the offer is available." is what he's been receiving. He bowed politely after mumbling a small "Thank you." and leaving the room with a sigh. A cold wind brushes on the exposed skin on his neck, making him shiver under his black polo and pants. He forgot to bring a jacket with him. The sun is about to disappear in the horizon but there's only one company left on his list, the chances aren't great, it's not great out of all but who knows it might be his luck. Heading towards the said building, a confusion drew over him to see no one-- aside from the lady in front desk and the bodyguard smiling at him. Am I the only applicant for today or I'm late? "Are you applying?" He looks back though he's about to withdraw and calls it a bad day but still worth it he got familiarized with the streets, what a petty reason to console himself. "Uh, yes, but I'm leaving since I'm late. There's no applicants so--" "You're the first one." she said. "Pardon?" he asks, checking if he's hearing it right. "You're the first applicant came today Sir." Goosebumps. That's how he felt after hearing the lady call him Sir. Was it because she added it a little late? Or her tone? Scratch. The atmosphere, yep, the atmosphere inside the building is quite… creepy. "Am I?" she nodded. "Please take this pass, and head to the last room on the second floor. That's where the interview occurs. Good luck." "Oh.. thanks I guess. I'm sorry." he said, the visitor's pass slipping off his hand. Uneasy yet determined, he heads to the second floor. The building is strangely quiet, it says the office is on the third floor, maybe they're still working. "Last room.. last room.." he chanted while walking and giggling to hear his small voice echoing in the hallway. No one's around so he's keeping himself cool though a little nervous. He found two doors at last, fixing his clothes and his slightly messed hair, clearing his throat before opening the door. "Good Afternoon-- Good Evening--" the words die instantly on his throat seeing the person sitting on a swivel chair. "Good evening, please take a seat." he motioned the unoccupied mono block in front of him. Relax.. Threatened. That's how he felt, but his body moved on its own when he felt the cold surface touch his bottom, not in a s****l way though. Jay bit his lips to prevent himself from asking what is he doing here, is he an applicant also? Then why is he sitting in front of him? It can't be that he's the one who's going to-- "Shall we start the interview?" I'm doomed. Literally. "Don’t be nervous." he said, his voice giving chills to his notably small and slightly trembling figure. "I won’t do anything," he added. Jay calmed himself down before nodding. As long as he won’t do anything weird or suspicious, his fighter reflexes will stay calm. "What's your name first to start with." "Jay." "Jay. I'm Sebastian.."
