Second day, Jay felt extremely exhausted or it was just his mind. They're currently in talks with Nayl Enterprise as he said yesterday, of course it was outside the company and now he's sitting awkwardly besides his boss. They're discussing profits, benefits, conditions and as what he can see, this man is trying to please his boss that seems not convinced nor satisfied. Too bad.
He only goes out once to get drinks and he's been dodging the woman's stare in front of him. She is the secretary, although Jay doesn't want to generalize, she looks like one in the movies who seems.. aggressive? That's how he put his words. She is popping and leaning on the table, sending looks at him but he wasn't pleased even to see her chest. He is a man but right now, he is not attracted.
"Our hotel has been receiving good reviews, and recently we launched a new offer for the guests when they're staying in. It surely spikes up their interest to check in and…"
And the boring situation goes on, Jay just finds it amusing whenever his boss would refuse in a calm state. You can't see any hesitations in his eyes rejecting an offer even if the price is blinding. He may be a professional and pro in his field, Jay thought.
"It receives benefits and recently became a headline.."
He also noticed how his boss always wears a watch, the same watch. He doesn't have a beard nor mustache, he looks too young, maybe 23? Then Jay is older but achieved less or nothing compared to him.
A movement on the corner of his eyes caught his attention, not again.
"Go get another drink, mine's empty." his boss's hard voice erupted him from looking down. He immediately gets up and leaves the room, somehow thankful for the request although he sounds like demanding it.
"What's your drink sir?" he looked up and ordered the same, it was just plain strong black coffee, he put cream on the side in consideration if his boss finds it too bitter he can pour it down. "A minute sir." Jay nodded.
While on the counter, he checked his little notebook for the next schedule. The appointment should only last for 2 hours because his boss needs to go back to the office to sign and review documents that are due tomorrow. After almost half a day of paperworks, he just needs to attend a dinner meeting with someone. Jay doesn't know because the name isn't written on it. He's having second thoughts if he should accompany him or not, it looks like a personal meeting rather than business one nor casual.
"Sir?"
"Ah, yes sorry.." he carefully got the drink on his hand, didn't bother to put it in the tray. It was sealed, his boss won't surely be someone who's too hygienic. "Holy cra-"
There was a splash followed by a girl's screech, Jay just knew the cup was on the floor, empty and that his hands were quite burning from how hot it was. His eyes soon landed on the girl worriedly, it was their client's secretary and her fitted blouse was messed up, stained by coffee he just brought.
The staff hurried and gave them both a towel to dry, though his hands were still aching and so as the lady in front of him. He kept saying sorry for not being able to prevent it, he helped her wipe his arms and completely abandoned his.
"I'm sorry," he said once again, the customer's attention was drawn back to their personal matters and did not care about them now, which is helpful because he cannot stand such a spotlight.
"It's okay, it's fine." she whispered, opening the first button of her blouse to let it loose. "Thank you."
He just ducked his head embarrassingly before continuing wiping her arms with manners and proper distance. Careful not to step in her personal space.
A sudden smell, a familiar one, not too strong but enough to leave an impression for Jay, it's his boss' perfume. He whipped his head on side and watched him walking towards his direction, as usual, his eyes pierced on him. It sends chills down his spine, he almost shivered down.
He detached himself from the girl and stood patiently for his boss.
"We're leaving." he announced and Jay glanced behind him, from the room. Did he seal the deal already?
___
Embarrassed, that's how he felt. He watched his hands being taken care of by Selestine, putting an ointment to ease the pain, it is not swollen anymore but still red considering his pale skin, it's really visible.
"There, keep the ointment with you just in case." she said.
"Don't you think I'll be scolded for being clumsy?" he asked worriedly.
"Why?"
"Because I was fired from my previous job just because I stumbled accidentally on one of the customers. I'll be fired?" he asked again, eyes widening though he still looked worried, the look on his small face was cute.
"No, our boss is not petty. I've been working here and I can say I've done worse things than you," she assured, putting the used towel on the side.
"Like what?"
"Poured down a coffee on him? Of course it was accidental, it happened when I first came here and out of nervousness the cup slipped my hold." she explained, reminiscing the scenario, too.
"That was bad.." he commented.
"Right? So get up and go back, you owe me an explanation after." she teased or that's how she looked like.
"Explanation? For what.." before he could ask fully, he heard the sounds of her heels fading, means she already left. "Aish," he mad at himself.
But still, he went back on his post without forgetting to check his appearance. Some of the coffee stained his and he felt uncomfortable with his pants, but it would be a hassle to go home just to grab a pair of clothes and he didn't bring any spare. He's screwed.
"Sir,"
"Can you get down and receive something I asked my driver to bring here?"
"Y-Yes sir." he bow politely and left.
Wow, I just took four steps and I'm going down again. He complained in his mind.
Patiently, he waited down the lobby till the familiar car appeared in his sight. He immediately walked towards it.
"He asked me to get.." the driver handed him two paper bags, light but there was a scent coming inside the bag. Familiar.
"They are clothes," the driver informed him.
"Yeah, thank you."
"He said it was for his assistant."
