"You watch me bleed until I can't breathe, I'm shaking falling onto my knees." - Shawn Mendes, Stitches.
Sophia was watching her mate train that weekend. He worked hard, and he didn't stop. He'd been training his entire life, his entire exhile since leaving the pack. He was determined to kill his father, and Sophia had did a reading.
She could see the odds were in his favor.
And while she wasn't worried about the strength of her mate, she now wanted to know:
What had this man done so horribly his son wanted to kill him so badly?
Watching Silas take off for his fifty mile run up hill with five hundered pound weights across his shoulder. When he was gone, Sophia walked to a panting Maverick and handed him a melting frozen water.
He happily chugged the refeshing water and looked up at Sophia with big blue eyes wide in curiosity, "Everything okay Luna?"
Sophia laughed amused, "I'm Sophia to you. And nothing wrong persay...I was wondering if you'd tell me about Silas' relationship with his father. Why does he hate him so much? And how could Samuel not let go some prehistoric way of thinking for his own son's happiness?"
Maverick shared a look with Trent as the Third in Command did some stretches. When he faced Sophia he whispered, "You should ask Silas darling. He's your mate...it's best coming from him."
Sophia nodded and Maverick changed the conversation as he looked at the cards in her hand. "Tarot cards?" Sophia nodded and teased, "Yeah wanna know your future?" Maverick grinned, "Sure."
"Let's see what's in your fortune." Sophia said as her magic brought the cards to life, One rose up and cut the cheek of Maverick making him jump and watch as the card settled on top of the deck. The cards seemed to glow for a moment before Sophia lifted them and laid the first card down.
"The Fool." Sophia announced. Trent snorted, "Sounds like him alright." Maverick flipped his friend off and looked to Sophia, "In the Upright position meaning you are full of free spirit, I can aslo see new beginnings about to emerge."
Setting down the second card Sophia smiled.
"The devil." Maverick read smiling. Sophia grinned, "Some one has been enjoying his freedom of rules and hiechary." Maverick shrugged and Sophia laid out the final card that made Maverick smile confused, "Knight of Swords?"
Sophia sighed, "Be careful of future acts of impulsiveness Maverick. Defending ones beliefs is never as valuble as losing a life."
Maverick slowly nodded at the cryptic message and stood up.
Sophia waved Trent over who flopped down, "Come on baby girl, you can tell me, it's rigged right?"
Sophia giggled and then a card shot out and cut his cheek. "We'll see won't we?" She lifted a card and placed it down.
"The lovers. But it seems something is amiss, a one-sidedness." She said glancing up at a pale Trent as Maverick stopped dead, "Whoa dude like your mate?" A sickly look passed Trent's face as Sophia laid down the second card, "The hanged man. You struggle with the sacrifice you fear to make."
Trent swallowed hard as the last card hit the ground.
"Death?" He whispered hoping like f**k Sophia was messing with him.
"Does? Wait does this mean...w-who is going to die?"He spluttered worriedly.
Sophia sighed, "It is reversed meaning a fear of change clings to you. Not from you, but from someone you've been in contact with. Not death as an end of life. Death as in end of something else."
Trent exhaled as he stood shaking, "I'm going on a run."
When he was gone Sophia looked at Maverick feeling bad, "I didn't mean to make him worry about her."
Maverick shrugged looking after his friend, "He didn't even say he had found her. Something's going on he doesn't want us involved in." Sophia sighed, "He'll tell us when he's ready." And with that she went in the house and started dinner. While she was sitting at the kitchen table holding her tarot cards thinking, she jumped when Silas came up behind her and kissed her.
"Hey baby." He rumbled deep in her voice, still very beasty from his andreline filled run. "Hey." Silas looked at the cards in her hand and smiled, "Funny I don't think I've ever done that before. Read me?"
Sophia slowly nodded and one of the cards shot out and cut his cheek. When it settled on the deck, the cards glowed and Sophia reached for the first card.
"The card of Temperance shows me you're feeling a lack of balance inside of yourself. A feeling of uneasiness." Silas hummed as she laid down the next card. "The Hierophant, a rebellion so that there might be new approaches."
Silas and she both smiled and then Sophia put down the final. "Strength. You're finding yourself fighting for focus but also still have enough inner strength to handle your fate." Silas was in shock and Sophia grinned at him, "I'm going to go check on dinner."
When she left, the cards still laying down how she left them.
Dinner was silent.
Tomorrow Silas would go to his father and challenge him to be alpha. And after their tarot readings from Sophia, they all seemed to be of two minds of something else.
When dinner was done and they all called a silent good night, Sophia went into their room to take a shower. When she saw her deck of Tarot cards, she walked over to them, and immediately a card shot out to cut her palm.
Picking it up Sophia looked at it in shock.
The Empress.
